Show Bryce Valley Principal Earl Slack and kindergarten teacher Pat Shakespear share the fun of receiving personalized story books with three very special kindergarten children at Bryce Valley Elementary. Some Very Special Gifts For Some Very Special Children TROPIC Garfield County kindergarten students received their own unique gift last week. Each student received a personalized storybook sto-rybook featuring them as the "star" of the book. This Learn To Read program was sponsored by 10 local businesses and organizations. A special computer program makes it possible for each child to be the star of the book, whether it be a circus theme, a farm, special wish or if they just want to fly. The philosophy behind the program pro-gram is that if the student is made a part of the story, the interest in learning is greatly enhanced. The program was put together by Bill Duckett of Divcom Services of Page, Ariz. Duckett says the program will continue each year in Garfield County as long as there are caring sponsors out there. Sponsors for this year's program include Bryce Valley PTSO, Sunset Cliffs Motel & General Store, Ruby's Inn, Pink Cliffs Village, The Roundup, Yardley Insurance, Garfield Memorial Hospital & Clinics, Best Western New Western Motel, Security Title Company of Garfield County and Southwest Center. |
