Show Johnson To Attend Valley Forge Youth Conference TROPIC April Johnson, 17, a junior attending Bryce Valley High School was selected as the only representative in southern Utah to attend the 1996 Youth Leadership Conference at Valley Forge, Penn., March 14-17. Program hopefuls were required to submit an application, letters of recommendation and a two-page patriotic essay, expressing their feelings about America. Open to all high school juniors in the state, students were pre-screened and finalists fi-nalists interviewed and selected by a panel of judges. A large number of pre-screened applications were received for the conference slots, all outstanding students who excel in scholarship, leadership, community service, and other criteria. This Youth Conference includes motivational speakers, activities strengthening leadership abilities, social functions and a historical tour of Philadelphia. Students will return to their respective re-spective high schools and are instrumental in-strumental in forming or maintain- April Johnson ing an active Freedom Club which includes a Freedom Assembly and Freedom Awareness Week. Johnson is one of thirty-seven youth who will attend and is a daughter of Moyle and Tracy Johnson of Tropic. |
