Show Garkane Customers See Rebate On December Power Bills RICHFIELD "Be sure to look closely at your power bill this month," says General Manager & CEO of Garkane Power Association Carl Albrecht. Credits totaling $400,000 appear ap-pear on the bills which Garkane customers will receive this week. The credits are a result of a rebate to Garkane from Deseret Generation and Transmission Cooperative, one of Garkane's power suppliers. The entire amount of the Deseret De-seret rebate is being passed through directly to Garkane members as a . i rebate on their December power bills, according to Albrecht. Member Mem-ber rebates will be applied on a proportionate basis, according to the amount of electricity purchased from Garkane during the first 10 months of 1999. Garkane is one of six electric cooperatives which make up Deseret. De-seret. Deseret provides power to its member cooperatives from its Bonanza Bo-nanza Power Plant in eastern Utah, as well as administering the members' mem-bers' contracts with Western Area Power Administation, the federal power marketing agency which delivers power to Garkane from the Glen Canyon Dam. A provision in Garkane's wholesale power contract provides that Deseret may authorize rate rebates re-bates when their cash flow is adequate ade-quate to support such an action. Other members of Deseret include in-clude Bridger Valley Electric Association, Asso-ciation, Dixie-Escalante Rural Electric Elec-tric Association, Flowell Electric Association, Moon Lake Electric Association, and Mt. Wheeler Power. Each cooperative will receive re-ceive rebates in direct proportion to the amount of power purchased (See REBATE on page 4-A) REBATE From Front Page from Deseret. In addition to Garkane's $400,000 rebate in December, an additional supplemental rate rebate from Deseret of up to $170,000 is expected to be approved prior to March 31, 2000. |
