Show Tropic News By Ronnie Brinkerhoff 679-8734 Talked with Dixie Shakespear who reported she had traveled to Salt Gulch to visit her sister LaNora LeFevre and her husband Mac. While at their home, the LDS visiting teachers, Faye Jepsen and Elaine Roundy of Boulder came and they all enjoyed one another's company. After leaving Salt Gulch, Dixie stopped in Boulder to visit her brother LeFair Hall and his wife Vickie. On the way back to Tropic, Dixie stopped in Escalante and visited her son Ed, his wife Camille and her grandsons. All in all, Dixie said she had a "real good day." Later in the week, Dixie's daughter Arvon Button and her son Cody of Kanab came to visit. Ten members of the Tropic chapter of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers enjoyed a history of her mother and father presented by Merle Richards. Jeanee Shakespeare presented an article on Utah's Centennial extracted from the Deseret News. Earl and Rachel Jolley are spending the winter with Dar and Helen Smith in St. George. Clive and Thelma Bybee took a trip to Pocatello, Ida. to visit son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Karen Bybee to get acquainted with a new grandson bom Jan. 1 1 . The senior Bybees' son Craig and his wife Brenda also have a new little daughter born Jan. 10 in Riverton. Clive and Thelma were double blessed as they visited with their new little granddaughter as well. The basketball game against Panguitch Bobcats on Friday was well-played and enjoyable to watch. Despite ongoing rivalry between the two teams, sportsmanship was evident on both sides. Mustang fans traveled to Enterprise on Saturday. Among the fans were former Bryce Valley principal Kerry Nelson and his wife Dawna, up from St. George. Taking tickets at the door was former Tropic gal JoAnn Piatt, daughter of Obie and June Shakespear, Shake-spear, who teaches there. An early morning flue fire wakened everyone to the sound of sirens. The Lester Clarke home had flames shooting two feet in the air from the chimney. No damage was reported but adrenalin was pumping. pum-ping. Hats off to the hardworking fire department volunteers! |
