I II I HI I I I I Ethel and LaMar LeFevre LaMar LeFevres Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary TROPIC The children of LaMar and Ethel LeFevre will honor their parents on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house set for Saturday, Dec. 3 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the LDS chapel in Tropic. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. LaMar and Ethel LeFevre were married Dec. 6 1944 at Vallejo, Calif, while LaMar was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His service years, from 1943 through 1947, took him to Hawaii, Guam, China and Japan. After he was discharged in 1947, he and Ethel moved to Logan where he earned his degree in education at Utah State University in only 28 months, graduating in 1950. The young couple moved back to Tropic and LaMar began his career in education, teaching at Henrieville Elementary until 1951 when he transferred to Tropic through 1953. They moved to Hawthorne, Nev. in the fall of 1953 where LaMar taught, served as coach, and as principal gaining experience in elementary, junior high and high school. In 1966, they moved to Carson City, Nev. where he served as assistant state superintendent of schools over planning. In 1967, they next moved to Las Vegas where LaMar served as director of the Las Vegas Office of the Department of Education before retiring in 1982. They lived in Page, Ariz, from 1983 until 1985 when they returned to Tropic. He and Ethel have since built and operated Bryce Point Bed and Breakfast, the first bed and breakfast facility in Garfield County. Ethel LeFevre excelled as a homemaker and spent a total of 18 years as Relief Society president in LDS Wards in Hawthorne, Carson City, and Las Vegas. Both have been active in the Lions Club and LaMar has held leadership roles at the state level since his return to Utah. He serves as a member of the Garfield County Travel Council and is on the board of directors for the Garfield Memorial Health Care Foundation. The LeFevres have four grown children, son Lynn and his wife Karen, Las Vegas; son Les and his wife Dcla, Las Vegas; daughter Susan and her husband Jon, Holdcn; and son Clark and his wife Stacey, Las Vegas, and 14 grandchildren.
