Show Most Roads, Viewpoints Opened atBrrce Canyon BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK Superintendnet Bob Benton reports that all major park roads and viewpoints in the park are open. Spring snow removal operations on, the Rainbow Point road are scheduled for completion within a week. Park maintenance crews and contractors have spent the past two weeks plowing the average three-foot accumulations of snow from the road and they have made considerable progress despite adverse weather conditions. The visitor center at the park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. where visitors may obtain information about the park and its activities., participat in a slide program, purchase a variety! of publications and visit the park museum V' V ' 1 Benton reports that most trails are open although they may be snow-covered or muddy in places. Visitors should check at the Visitor Center for current cohditons. Naturalist activities in the park .will begin in May and the park lodge, showers and store will open May 21. One loop of North Campground (30 sites) is open, including restrooms. The number of visitors to Bryce Canyon National Park was down 2 percent during March with 9,286 recreational visits recorded for the month. Visitation for the first three months of the year was down 27 percent compared with the same period last year. Benton attributes the decrease to poor weather conditons during.
