Show BAUER MITCHELL the St. George Temple was the scene July 18th of tlie marriage of Ruth Marie Bauer and Garlan William Mitchell. President Uarold S. Snow performed the double ring ceremony. The bride Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaVand Bauer of Cedar City. She Is a graduate of Cedar City High School. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Eldrcd Mitchell of Escalante. He has attended CSU for two years and has filled a two year mission in the Western States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A reception was given In their honor July 22 at the LDS Institute of Religion In Ced?r City. The bride chose embroidered "nylon organza and net for her wedding gown. She carried a bridal bouquet of white gladiolas and pink carnations.. Miss Janinc Bauer, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a dress of pink embroidered taffeta and nylon net. Bridesmaids were Linda King, Shirley Heap, and. Kathleen Marsh.. Bridal attendants carried glamellla nosegays. Best man was Theron Mitchell, brother of the bridegroom, Ushers were Robert Beatty, Carlyle Shurtz, and Fred Stelnfels. At the bride's book was Bobette Bauer. Gift bearers were Daniel LaVand Bauer and Marilyn Shurtz, Leila Whatcott and Ramona Mun-ford were in charge of tho gift room assisted by Betty Jo Bauer and Dianne Beatty. Appropriate background music was played by Deanna Durrani and Gail Crawford. In charge of tho kitchen was Brittania Durrant assisted by Evelyn Heap, Kathryn Apple- gate and Hester Rollins. Co hostesses were LaRlno Brad-shaw, Retha Shurtz andThel-ma Marsh. Those serving were Deanna Lyman, Georgia Ras-mussen, Jeanette Gordon and Barbara Thompson. Open House honoring tho newlyweds was given by tho parents of the bridegroom at the Escalante South Ward Recreation Hall on July 23. A short program was given with Theron Mitchell acting as Master of Ceremonies. Numbers on the program were: Prelude organ music by Jan-lne Bauer, Reading by Lillian Coleman; Organ solo by Jan-ine Bauer; Piano and Accord-ian duet by Jimmie Peterson and Wesley .Baker; Reading by Fay Alvejr, Vocal duet by Sandra Porter and Geraldine Liston accompanied by Janet Spencer; Vocal solo by Ruth Marie, the bride. Dancing followed the program. Refresh- . Tnents were served. The young couple spent their honeymoon at Fish Lake and Escalante. Garlan left for the Armed Services July 28. Ruth Mario plans to attend CSU this fall. |
