Smith and wife, Bishop Nibley, wife and daughters, PrestClawsonof the European mission, Prest Mo- H Kay of the Swiss and German H mission and about 200 elders H from Oermany, England and Scotland joined Prest. B. G. H Thatcher and his bunch of truth spreaders in ono of the greatest H conferences ever held in tho H Missionary fields of this coun- H The conference was opened Sunday morning July 24th, nt 10 o'clock, in tho Verlsoop social hull. After the oponing 1 exorcises, Prest. Thatcher boro H j his testimony and dolivored a H 1 welcome nddres s. Apostle H Olawson then spoke of his trav-H trav-H els throughout the dtfforout H missions and referred to con-H con-H ditions in various localities and H bore a strong testimony. Prest. H Jos. F. Smith thon addressed H the meeting on the truthfulness H of the gospel and the work of H tho Latter-day saints. During H tho mooting Elder Ebenozer H Kirkham,- who has just boon H released to return home from the German mission, rendered a tine vocal solo. The attendance attend-ance at tho meeting was about 1,200 people. At 2 p. m. tho conference con-veined con-veined and after the opening exercises the following speakers addressed the meeting: Elder Korthals, lip. Nibley and Prest. McKay. Attendance 1,000. Another session was held in the evening and this meeting was addressed by Elder W. J. LcBry, Elder .las. II. Wolber, and J'rcst..Ios. h Smith. Over 1,(!00 people turned out to this session. Our tine choir rendered render-ed excellent music foi all the meetings and sang English and Dutch anthems. 1,,'JOO books wore disposed of. Monday morning a Priesthood Priest-hood meeting was held at the Excelsior hall and some splendid splen-did advise and instructions were given by Prest. Thatcher, Prest. Jos. h Smith, Bp. Nib-ley Nib-ley and a number of the conference con-ference presidents reported the various branches. A German quartette was rendered by the Elders from that locality and Elders Van Dun-in and Wright both sang vocal solos. We mot again Tuesday morning morn-ing July 2(ith, and tho following speakers addressed the meeting: meet-ing: Prest. Walker, Prest Cannon, Can-non, Prest. Woolloy, Elder Thomas, Elder Alexander,Elder Korthals and Prest. Thurnian. |
