Manausa, who went to Palrn Beach, Florida, to investigate in-vestigate the lands being offered offer-ed for sale by the Palm Beach Farms Co., returned home last Sunday night after and absence of five weeks. In conversation with him he gave us a detailed description of the country in and around Palm Beach and was so well taken up with the country and its opportunities that it is his intention to dispose dis-pose of his property here and go there to reside. Palm Beach is a large city, right up-to-date and boasts of a six-story hotel that covers aero and does a million dollar's worth of business busi-ness each month during the threo months it is in operation He was particularly interested interest-ed in the soil and its productiveness produc-tiveness a n d brought back a sample to show his friends. The surface soil is of a sandy formation, underneath of which is a line, black, loamy soil equal ; to anything he had ever seen. ,) The climate cannot bo surpass- ed. He stated that everything there was equally as good, if not bettor, ttiau the company represents it to bo. Sixty men, in company with him, visited tho lands and two of them were "kickers" and did nob at fiixt like the proposition, but before leaving these two gentlemen purchased land there and made application for more. Two Scandinavian ( men near Palm Beach wanted s to sell out. One asked $1,000 for his 30 acres and the other ' fellow refused $3,000 for his 20-z 20-z acre tract. During his absence ho visited Jack sonville, St Augustine, . Miami and other cities and spent ten days in Palm Beach and vicinity. He also spent a few days in trolling for fish and boating on the beach. On his return trip he visited his brothers, Hyrum and Armil in Chicago, also his father, Henry Manausa, of Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, .Michigan, who is eighty years of age. Ye editor spent two years in the state of Florida and Mr. IManausa's experiences wore particularly interesting to the Globe man who would certainly certain-ly like to visit old Florida again.
