Show Rural Mail Boxes Should Be Painted. Postmaster Eva C. Wilcox has just received a communication communic-ation from the fourth assistant postmaster general, in which she is requested to urgo all patrons of the rural free delivery systqmto paint their mail boxes and tho posts to which th'ey aro attached, a pure whito color in order to protect box and post from damago by tho weather, to servo to fix their identity in all parts of tho country as Unit; cd States mail boxes and to give them a neater and-sightlier appearance,,, ap-pearance,,, Also to imprint their names " and box. numbers on boxes in black block 'lettors about two inches high. Also to endeavor to induce road officers to paint upon tho posts of boxes which are located at crossroads tho names of tho towns 'of villages to which tlie crossroads lead, with an indicator showing the direction. Tho roads along the rural routes should bo kept in good condition and patrons jshould intorest themselves in the matter mat-ter to roport to tho road masters or county commissioners any repairs that arc noeded, as tlie rural routes may be discontinue j ed if tho roads are not in proper condition. . |
