Show I In the Social Realm. The grand socinl given in honor of the out-going officers of tho Ladies' Self-Culture Club at tho homo of Mrs. Lorelda Capenor, Friday evening even-ing of last week, was one of tho most pleasing and highly high-ly entertaining events of tho season. Over 80 guests participated partici-pated in, tho affair and all present pre-sent had a very enjoyable timo. The Garland orchestra was in attendance and furnished ex- cellent music. A program, as follows, was carried out: Solo Mrs. Lottie B. Smith. Interesting stor y Joseph Jensen. Clog Dance John W. Wing; All present took part in a guessing contest "Islands and Countries Found at a Feast." Mrs. Lottio B. Smith was awarded a fine box of stationery as the winner of the 1st prize and W. D. Lewis received a "Comfort" as tho consolation prize. Partners for lunch were chos-on chos-on by drawing cut cards and an elaborate repast consisting of pink and white sherbet, pink and white cake, grapes, apples, peaches, candy, etc., was par-taken par-taken of. The house was de-corated de-corated in Club colors pink and white. Monday night of this week tho officers of the Qarland Y. L. M. I. A. gave a very pleas-ant pleas-ant opening social to the mem-bors mem-bors of the association and a , number of invited guests. The program as published in our last issue was carried out and delicate refreshments served at the conclusion of the program. The social was given to interest the young people in mutual work and will result in much good along this line. The attendance at tho Sunday School concert given Tuesday ' evening at the Qarland hall, was not as good as the excellent program rendered merited. The concert was o the high-class , order and every number on tho program was well prosonted and warmly applauded.
