Show Drowned in Logan Canyon. Surveyor N. P. Anderson Ander-son off Brigham City Loses Life in Logan Canyon. Nephi P. Anderson, city engineer en-gineer of Brigham City, was drowned in tho wnters of tho Lognn river Inst Saturday night, on a return trip from doing some surveying inho Logon canyon. His bodywas recovered recover-ed Sunday and shipped to Brighani'Monday. Tho following is' taken- from tho Desoret Evening News: "Mr. Anderson had a contract with tho government for surveying sur-veying in Logan canyon and had boon out in tho hills for some time with a party of men. Ho had finished his contract, and started down the canyon, pitching pitch-ing his' camp for the night about 15 miles from Logan. He had forgotten some notes, or something some-thing of that nature, however, and, having pitched c a m p early, decided to go back alone. Ho did not return, and Sunday morning the members of the party decided to come-down tho canyon three miles farther to the ranch of Goorge Q Rich, where they could felepiiono to Logan, thinking that perhaps Anderson had gone on down the canyon. As they reached tho Rich ranch thoy found his dead body lying on a sandbar a short distance from the ranch house. Tho opinion of the men is that Anderson must have walked off a dugway in the darkness and, the stream being very swollen, he was unable to got out. He was Oil years of age." Mr. Anderson wan born in Holback, Denmark, Nov. 20, 1847, mid came to Utah in 1872. He was county surveyor of Box Elder for a number of years and at the time of his death wus tilling tho position of city engineer en-gineer of Brigham City. He is survived by his wife and largo family. Impressive f u n oral sorvices were held in the Brigham Brig-ham City tabornaclo Wednesday Wednes-day at 2 p. m. Cephus Et Andorson and Mrs. Lewis 0. Johnson of this city are children of tho deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Andorson, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson John-son and othor relatives attondt ed the funeral services at Brigham. Brig-ham. A woll-written set of resolutions resolu-tions adopted by tho County officors and employees of Box Eldor county, showing respect and high esteem of deceased, came to late for publication in this issue, but will appear noxt week. |
