Ho owns 4 sections sec-tions of land in that locality and has been boosting for that country for a long timo. Mr. Roberts is taking a law course at the George Washington University Uni-versity of Washington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lewis went to Ogden Monday in the Overland car. They were accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Carr and children who returned to theii home in Ogden. They returned Tuesday and were accompanied by Mrs. Rainbow and daughter who are spending ii few days here. Mr. and Mrs. David Darton loft Thursday for Malad City where they were joined by John Thorpe and family and tho crowd, in Thorpe's automobile, left in the afternoon for a tour of Idaho, They will visit Soda Springs and other places in Idaho and be gone for about a week or ton days. Agent F. F. Gross, accompanied accom-panied by his wife, are visiting relatives inBurnswick,Missouri. Atty. Chas E. Foxloy is filling tho position of local agent pro tem at the Garland depot. Mr. and Mrs. Gross will spond about 30 days in the east and will visit Chicago and other eastdrn cities prior to their return. Supt. T. II. Edwards and Chemist H. C. Cutler of tho Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. have movod their families up to the Hampton Bridge camp grounds on Bear Rivor. Messrs. Edwards Ed-wards and Cutler make that place their headquarters from 7 p. in. to 7 a. m. and drive to and from there in a rig. Quito a number of Garland people are located there for tho summor. F. 0. Haws of the Garland orchestra, informed us that tho orchestra has been enlarged and was cabablo of doing somo splendid work in the musical line hereafter. The regular Friday night dances given by this organization at the Garland hall aro becoming quite popular. Tho hall has a splendid oak floor and with the enlarged orchestra, the dancing public are insured a good timo at those dancos. Bob Evans, tho plumbor,went to Salt Lako yesterday. This week has been a hot, record-breaking roaster and mis-quitos mis-quitos have been as numerous as June-bugs in June. B. F. Campbell has been in Brigham for the past week or more as a juror in the Blacken-burry-Richardson murder case being tried in the district court. Tho jury brought in a virdict at 9 p. m. Thursday of murder in the second degree. Messrs W. R. Vanfleot, Dr. J. M. Francke, J. A. Rostan and Frank Searle took a spin up Bear River canyon in "Van's" Reo car on a fishing trip Thursday. They lauded all kinds of the finny tribe and came home full offish (stories.) The 10-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Clark was operated oper-ated upon last Sunday by Dr. Wm. L. Rich, assisted by Dr. Whitlock, for ompeyema or an abscess of the lung. A quart of puss was" drawn from the swelling swell-ing and a tube inserted to drain the abscess. Tho lad is favorably favor-ably recovering. John A. Jones, a mail clerk on the Malad branch, shot and killed a scene painter by the name of Arthur Shopard in front of the Wellington hotel at Salt' Lake Tuesday. Jones justifies his rash act on tho ground that Shepard had alienated alien-ated the affection of his wife. The coroner's jury exonerated Jones in a virdict of justifiable homicide. I.
