Show Independence Day J'K TO BE Gloriously Celebrated IN ...G ARLAN D... i t H The citizens of Garland in K t mass meeting assembled on t Snuday evening, June 12th, and I unanimously decided to celeb- y rate the 4th of July in a litting .': manner. A good representation I - of our business men and patri- otic citizens was present. Mayor I J. C. Wheolon was appointed: chairman of the meeting and I D. 0. Chapman, Town Clerk, secretary. 1 K . A motion carried to tho effect D that Garland would appropri- ately celebrate tho Glorious R Fourth and the President and Trustees of tho Town Hoard were unanimously chosen to act . as the General Fourth of July committee, with power to select sub committees to assist in the work of giving a good, sane celebration. Fireworks will have no place in this year's colebration. Immediately after tho meeting meet-ing the members of the Town Board held a session and selected select-ed the various sub committees. Following is a list of the committees com-mittees chosen : General Committeo Town Board, J. C. Wheelon, chairman. chair-man. Finance Trustee A. R. Cap-onor, Cap-onor, chahman; Mosiah Evans, J. F. Owens. Program Trustee Thos. E. Secrist, chairman; A. H. Gloa-sou, Gloa-sou, Mis. Mantina Jensou.Mrs. Nellie Rose, N. C. Mortenson. Sports Trustee Joseph Jensen, Jen-sen, chairman; J. T. Laut, Mrs. Esther Evans, Mrs. Lottio B. Smith, Win. King. Decoration Trustee Thales H. Edwards, chairman, assisted assist-ed by all the women of town. The committees are preparing an oxcellent program for the day consisting of ball games, children's dance, a lino program pro-gram at the hall, sports too numerous to mention and a good, sound, sane celebration ! will bo tho outcome.
