Show Old Time Love Letters. In an old book, dated 1820, there is, says tho People's Companion, Com-panion, th following very curious lovo epistle. It affords an admirable play on words: "Madamo Most worthy of admiration. After long consideration con-sideration and much meditation on tho great reputation you possess in the nation, J. havo a strong inclination to become your relation. On your approbation approba-tion of tho declaration, I shall raako preparation to romovo my situation to a moto convenient station to profess my admiration, admira-tion, and if such oblation is worthy of observation and can obtain commiseration it will bo an aggraudization beyond all calculation of the joy and exultation ex-ultation of yours. Sans Dissimulation." Tho following is tho still moro curious answer: Sir I persued your ovation with much deliberation at the great infatuation of your imagination im-agination to such veneration on so slight a foundation. But after examination and much serious contemplation I supposed suppos-ed your animation wag the fruit of recreation or had sprung from ostentation to display your educajn by an oddjenuin oration, ora-tion, or rather multiplication; of words of tho same termination though oP groat variation in each respective signification. Now, without disputation, your laborious application in so tedious ted-ious an occupation deserves commendation, and, thinking imitation a sufficient gratification, gratifica-tion, I am, without hesitation, yours, Mary Modorutiou." |
