Show In Justice Vanfleet's Court, April 24, a writ of attachment was Issued out of Justlcu Vanfleet's Court at tho Instance of Jensen Bros, against the propcty of Wm. Clayton for 1102.08 and Interest amounting to (83.10. Constable Campbell slczed tbo property consisting of rigs, horses, etc., by vlrtun of the writ of attachment. Clayton filed a special appearance and May 4th. the caso camo beforo tbo said court, Chas. E. Foxluy representing Jensen Bros, nnd It. b. Karus worth appeared for Win. Clayton. Clayton objected to the- jurisdiction of the court and filed a motion to dissolve the attachment. Motions overruled. A demurr was filed which was also overruled over-ruled and Clayton given ten days In which to answer. 4 Saturday, May 2, Bill Johnson was arrested by Marshal C. J. Campbell for disturbing tho peace at Garland. He appeared beforo Justice Vanflcet Monday Mon-day In answer to said charge and was fined $10 and costs, which he promptly paid. A controversy between Bill Johnson and the Thompson Land and Ltvo stock Co. of Point Lookout, cams before Justice Vanflcet April 30th. Tho action was brought by Tho Thompson Land & Livestock Co. charging Johnson with unlawful un-lawful detention of certain lauds in that vicinity. Johnson was fined 15 for contempt con-tempt of court during tho trial and taken to the city jail nnd when sent for refused to show up. A restoration of the land and a judgment of 125 was tbo dlclslon of tbo court. Johnson was released, Atty. Chas. E. Foxlcy represented the company named above. Johnson was rearrested for disturbing the peace at Point Lookout and the case of the State of Utah vs. Bill Johnson came before Justlco Vanflcet Tuesday, Atty. Foxley representing the state. Johnson requested a change of venuo which was granted and tho caso will bo heard In Justlco .las. Knudson's court at Brlgham City. |
