It Is an arrangement that Is Intended as n substitute for tho ordinary hat and umbrella stand, which Is nover a vory sightly thing, nnd one on which lints and eoata aro llablo to becomo vory dusty nnd dirty If left hanging up for any lfngth of tlmo. It is quite a simple matter to arrange ar-range a corner In tho way shown In tho skotch, and tho amateur carpenter Hall Corner with Curtain. need have no fear In undertaking it. Whon tho curtain la drawn entlroly across It forms a kind of cupboard, in which hats, coats and umbrellas may bo kopt out of sight and entlroly freo from dust. For tho roof, a triangular piece of wood must bo obtained, cut to fit tho cornor, and this Is supported at a suitable height by means of two bars ot wood nailed to tho wall on either side undornoath it. A glance at tho small skotch at tho top left-hand left-hand cornor will explain this, and "A" marks tho two bars of wood supporting support-ing tho root of tho cupboard. A fow Inches under this aro fixed two rows of pegs; artlcloi of this kind may bo bought for vory llttlo, ready-made, or tho pegs and tho boards can bo purchased separately and screwed together to-gether nnd then nailed up In their places. Whon tho woodwork has been placed in position, a small flounce, of material to match the curtains, should be fastened along tho edge, with small brass-headed nnlls nnd n brass rod arranged Just Insldo on which tho cup tains may bo hung. Only ono curtnln Is shown In tho sketch, but either ono that will pull right across or two divided di-vided In tho ccntor should bo used. A little threo-cornorod bamboo umbrella stand, or ono of tho draln-plpo pattern, pat-tern, will fit comfortably In tho cop nor, nnd on tho roof will bo found a nlco Bpaco for n pot with a tern or other ornaments. |
