Cutler Thursday afternoon, Jan. 23, twenty members and two visitors being present. pres-ent. Prst. Esther Evans In chair. Vlce-Prcst. Nellie Rose reported that I tho committee had decided to give a basket ball for tlw benefit of Joseph I H. Klrkham under tho auspices of tho Club, ward choir and Sunday School. Mrs.Colla Grover gave current topics and Mrs. H. B. Foulgor read' a portion por-tion of the Interesting story, "Brewster's "Brew-ster's Millions." Prest. Lucy A. Clark lot tho Library Bourd stated that a I j character ball would bo given at' the hnll Feb. 22 nd, to raise funds to de- fray tho expenses of tho board. Mrs. Mantlna Jonrjon was appointed to do tho reading and Mrs. Clark to glvo current events at tho next meeting. Dainty refreshments were served and tho club adjourned until Thursday, Feb. 13th, to meet at the homo of Mrs. Burdett Smith. HAPPY HOUR CLUB. Thursday evening, Jnn. 23, Miss ( Barbara Wan lass nnd Mr. Ed. Rogers Rog-ers took pride and pleasure In entertaining enter-taining tho members ot tho Happy Hour Club at the homo of Miss Wan-lass Wan-lass on Factory Street. Music, singing, sing-ing, games and social conversation wero cngngod in until the supper hour, chief among tho games being, "Simon says thumbs up." An elaborate elab-orate luncheon was served and Jos. H. Klrkham distinguished himself as the chcaf eater, partaking of a foast at all threo tables. Tho only excuse ho offered was that ho must take ad-'vantago ad-'vantago of tho opportunity afforded him horc as when ho reached the mission mis-sion Hold ho expected to miss meals occasionally. Miss Ada Fowler nnd Mr. Jodo Burncs will entertain tho club Friday Fri-day evening, Feb. 7th, at tho homo of Miss Fowler. THE GIRL AND THE STAMPEDE. The Garland Amilsoment hall was packed to Its utmost capacity Friday night, Jan. 24, by an appreciative audience who warmly npplaudod Victor Vic-tor Lambert's romantic, br-jezy story of Western life. "Tho Girl and tho Stampede" from start to llnish. Mr. Lambert cartalnly portrayed tho true churucter of a cow boy and Mrs. Lam-bort Lam-bort was exceptionally good In bor role. "Yump my yob," Swedish Cat-erina, Cat-erina, created no end of amuspmcnt every tlmo sho made an appearance. All and all tho show was up to tho standard und gavn entlro satisfaction. I BASKET BALL. Tho Baskot Ball, given undor tho auspices of the Ladles' Self-Culturo Club, Ward Choir and Sunday School, at the hall last Saturday evening, in I honor of Joseph Klrkham, was indeed a very pleasant affair. Tho hall was crowded with frionds of the dopart- Ing missionary. Excellent punch was served In tho usual refreshment corner of tho hnll and tho bnskntR furnished by the Indies were rallied off by Auctioneer T. H. Edwards. 25c wag the lowest price paid for any basket and one sold for 92.70. Dancing Danc-ing was engaged In to tho music of the Metropolitan Orchestra until midnight. mid-night. Chns. Edwards presented Mr. Kirkbnm with a purse of $3R.ir., the proceeds of the dance and social, during du-ring tho evening nnd Mr. Klrkham responded In n few feeling sentiments. Mr. Klrkham left last Monday to visit relatives In Lchl prior' to going on his mission next mouth to Call, foruln. TWO NIGHTS' ENGAGEMENT- The Walters' Stock Co. will play a two nights' engagement hero, commencing com-mencing Monday, Feb. 3rd, and will present to their many friends two of their' best successes, "The Girl and the Gamblor" being tho opening bill for Monday night. This company will-be will-be remembered by their last season's productions of "Tho Battle ot Llfo," and "Tho Shadows of a Groat City," April 2Cth and 26th, 1907. MUlor was hostess of a pleasant sewing bee at her homo Friday Fri-day afternoon, Jan. 24, to which a number of her lady friends wero Invited In-vited guests. Prizes were awarded tho best and the poorest sowers, Mrs. Lucy A. Clark winning 1st prlzo and Mrs. J. R. Standing 2nd prize. All present wero such experts that tho booby prlzo was not given out. Tho afternoon was pleasantly spent and delicious refreshments served. "Tho Girl nnd tho Gambler" will be tho opening bill of tho Walters' Stock Co. at tho Amusement ball Monday night, Feb. 3rd.
