Show KAIBAB DEER BEER PROBLEM IS BELIEVED SETTLED the kaibab doer deer problem appears to be on the road to satisfactory tic ton according to information ron ren calved from district forester it R H rutledge of oe tho the intermountain district at ogden utah the report states that an agreement has been reached between them and tile the arizona ganio game and fish commission which appears to contain a plan of action which will eventually solve tho the deer problem on oil tho the kalbak forest this problem has presented a lot of difficulties during tho the past several years tile the agreement further indicates that the state fish and game authorities working under the provisions of the new ganio game code aro are attacking the problem in a businesslike way and in doing so are cooper co oper abing fully with tile the forest service biological survey and the national park dark service the agreement between dis erict forester rutledge and the game colu commission mission was made possible under section 4 of the arizona game coo co o which reads the commission may anter enter into operative cooperative co agreement with any federal department having jurisdiction over federally controlled lands in arizona and in carrying out such rules and regulations as may be established by such department tor for the protection and perpetuation of game animals thereon the essential features of the ibe agreement arev are 1 that the open hunting season on the kaibab shall be extended from october 1 1929 to december 15 1929 2 any person hunting deer within the kalbak must have an arizona hunting license in his possession 3 any person entering and desiring to hunt deer on the kat kal bab will be required to obtain a permit from the forest service at a cost of this goes into a operative cooperative co fund to bo be used to defray a portion of the expense incurred in handling hunting on the forest 4 each holder of an arizona hunting license and a forest permit may take out not more than two deer only one of which may be a buck 6 killing of deer under this agreement shall be confined to areas designated on oil the kaibab 6 no carcasses hides or detached heads shall be removed from the kaibab until they have been tagged by game wardens appointed by the commission |
