Show OBJECT TO CHANGING BRYCE CANYON NAME objection to having the name of bryce canyon changed to the utah national park was made by governor george H dern re bently in a letter to congressman louis 0 crampton chairman dirman cli of tho the subcommittee on parks appropriations of 0 the national house of representatives tho the letter in part follows the law creating bryce canyon a national iati onal patk park undertakes to rename it as utah national park in my opinion this Is very objectionable objection aMe from every standpoint there are many objections to renaming bryce among which are these bryce has already received extensive national advertising and we would lose the benefit of all that expense and effort it the name were changed at this time the name utah national park has no local significance ance or application to bryce canyon and would tit fit any other spot in utah as aa well as it tits fits bryce it implies that utah has only one natt onil park As a matter of bf fact bryce will be our second national park dark and it la Is possible that we will auvo others in the future |
