Show 1 only the Splatterblotch would permit per-mit us to live in peace with it, how we would preach peace to those quarrelsome quarrel-some papers up in the goodl y City of the Saints. Thir eternal quarreling upon all aorta of topics is very annoying annoy-ing to all whose duty it is to read them ' ' s . The entire editorial space of the Tri- taaV U devoted to ite war upon the ' Herald, and what space the Herald can spare from" it warfare upon" the Tribune Tri-bune li dtyoled ton imaginary bat- tie it is waging against this paper. If there were anything of either dignity or nobility in these battles it might be made interesting but the trivial nature of the causes of their ill-nature precludes pre-cludes the hope of interest, either now or In the future. A 1 ittle good nature, a little ability, a little erudition on them would prove a godsend to their readers. The greatest event now before the people of Utah is the coming convention conven-tion to form a constitution for the coming com-ing state. This matter should claim the best thought of the beBt minds of the territory now and until the new state i9 organized and under weigh. No wholesome legislation or system of laws can be built upon a defective, half-formed or vicious constitution. It is therefore all important that our new constitution be constructed, so that our glorious present as well as our hopeful future may not be clouded or retarded by fundamental laws which render progressive legislation impossible. Let the democrats of Utah arouse themselves them-selves to the importance of electing a majority of that body from their brightest, brainiest and most patriotic men. Think of it ye democrats of Utah. The Tribune finds fault with the statement that Brigham Young was a democrat. The Tribune is opposed to the spread of intelligence such as this. Once upon a time the Tribune was a fierce liberal paper, and probably in those days it didn't care a cent if President Pres-ident Young were a democrat or not. Things have changed and it pains the Trib. to acknowledge that he was not a republican. It is a great pity that such trials as the Irvine case are reported in full in the papers. Familiarity with such things breed contempt. lor,. decency- i& -Veii to come out blank rather than fill their columns with stuff that contaminates contam-inates the innocent minds of the young. W. W. Browning & Co. have sold the Ogden Sun to the Sun Publishing company. Under what management It may be we trast the brave little Sun will always shed a steady, effulgent ray upon the democracy of Weber county, Thi Herald, if it is only half as smart as we rate it, will hojv subside. It must see that its intemperate and bad humored championship Of the Salt Lake ditches is fatally injuring them. "Save us from our friends," should be their ery. Republicanism hasn't brought much ood to the Enquirer and so the young Utonians will probably defer their advent to that party until the first ef another year. j If a Vote for Hall ib to be considered as an endorsement of Hawlins, Hall ought to be elected by a tremendous majority,' and we believe he will be.
