Show Will Fight to the Hitter End. Chicago, July 2. A special from Coquimbo, Chili, dated June 28, published pub-lished here this morning, is as follows: At last the new president of the guv-ernment guv-ernment party has been elected. The province of South Chili, all under Bal-maoeda's Bal-maoeda's control, voted Saturday. Balmaceda's candidate, Vicuna, was chosen as his successor, but the vote will not lie made public nntil July 25. Between now and then Balmaceda will remain in office and will hesitate at nothing to stamp out the revolution. He is in the fight to the bitter end. There will be no compromise. Either he must fall or the insurgents will have to make an unconditional surrender. The town is alive with warlike scenes. Everything points to a fierce fight at an early" date. News reaches here that all the insurgent fleet with the exception bf the Esmeralda, are in rendezvous at Caldera, 200 miles to the north ' of the port w here tbe Blanco Encalada sunk. The purpose is without with-out doubt to attack Coquimbo at once. It looks as if the insurgents and the Balmacedists would be in conflict by J uly i or 2. |
