Show The other evening the little two-year old son of John K. Allen, of the Second ward, nearly lost his life. The child was plaj ing around the house, and with a child's curiosity climbed onto a bar- 1 rel and removed the lid from the swill tub standing near by, and which was nearly full of swill. He then tried to mount 'it, and fell head first into the swill. The little lit-tle fellow would soon have suffocated had it not been for Hagar Thatcher, the girl who is living at Mr. Allen's She happened to go to the door at the time and saw the child's feet sticking out of the barrel. She ran and picked him up and carried him in doors. In a short time-he revived, but continued sick during tin night. He is entirely t recovered now, but it was a very - nar- I row escape, as but two minutes longer and he would have been beyond re- - I covery. ! |
