Show AX ELEGANT FAIXT1XG. The Work of Art That Adorns the Bar of Knight Bros. While Frovo is boasting of her eminence in educational matters, she need not be ashamed of the talent she possesses so far as the arts are concerned. con-cerned. If any one desires to see the truth of this, let them make a visit, tn the establishment of Knight Bros., opposite the Opera House, and there they will see as mammoth and nicely executed a work of art, as one sees in a day's travel. It is an oil painting 9 x V2 feet, representing Adam and Lve in the Garden of Eden, t he work of our talented artist, Mr. am Jep-person,of Jep-person,of whom Frovo feels proud. The figures of Adam and Eve, are almost al-most life size, well proportioned, svm-metic svm-metic and finely shaded. Eve is in "t he act of offering Adam the forbidden fruit. The coloring of the :;pple has been so well attended to bv ilia :.rtist tnat a person involuntarily longs to bite at the luscious fruit. The wily serpent, after bavins succeeded m his mission, is seen era wing off in the distance. The foliage and shrubbery in the picture is perfect; only the skilled eye of a master could point out any defect. The artist has conceived a nopular idea of the Garden of Eden; instead of it being the nicely mowed lawn represented repre-sented in similar works of this kind he has made it portray a grove, ith herbs and flowers of all kinds in rich profusion. profus-ion. A pool of water nestles at the feet of the two personages, which gives quite a freshness to the nictin-P. Mr. Jepperson, the artist, has never had a lesson in oil painting aud this, his last creation, stamps him as the genius that he is. Knight Bros, are to be congratulated on the acquisition of such a painting, and the public should be proud in knowing that the author is a resident of our glorious Frovo. |
