Show Pardoned by tlie President. James Jack, Esq., of Salt Lake city, is in receipt of a letter from the pardon par-don clerk at Washington, D. C, giving the information that the President has commuted the sentences of the following follow-ing persons, convicted for infractions of the Edmunds-Tucker law: Hans Jaspcrsen, of Goshen, aom live years to eighteen months; Rasmus Justensen, of Spring City, from two years to one I year; C. A. Terry, Fairview, from two ! years to one year; A. G. Slater, Ilu'its-"vilie, Ilu'its-"vilie, from two years to one year and two months; J. D. Wasdon, Ounnison, from one year to four months; Thos. Stirland, Providence, from two and one-half years to one year. The case of N. P. "Christensen," Randolph, Rich county, sentenced to one year was denied. de-nied. All of the i.bove will be released on receipt of official papers, with the exception of Stirland, who will have t stay four months longer. The oilci s have done their time and are only waiting the documents. After this batch are released there will only b " two left, N. P. Christensen and C. A. White. Christensen has seven month.; yet to serve and White only one month. Some local prejudice doubtless has been brought to bear in the Christensen case he is 67 years of age and quite feeble. Papers in the above cases are expected daily. Severe Forest Fire. Mount Hamilton, Cala., July 2o. A severe forest fire has been raging on the Mount Hamilton reservation for a week past, coming close to the observatory. observa-tory.
