" TheBe remarks re-marks appear harmless, and they may have a certain business shrowdness behind be-hind them. Still tho larger truth is that the speakers most often do not take an honest view of marriage, no matter how honorable may be their purposes. Money cannot insure happiness, and long experimenting ex-perimenting in the countries of Enropo has shown that mating for wealth is tha sure road to a lax and immoral domestic domes-tic economy. It would seem that the sensible view to take of marriage is that it consummates life for tho poor and the rich, tho vulgar and tho refined that no single lifo is tho perfect life. The future of mankind depends almost wholly upon happy marriages and healthy offspring. And this suggests that there should bo no marrying of unsound un-sound people. Greater selfishness cannot bo imagined than that which bring3 children into tho world doomed to a life of immitigable misery, the hereditament of those who bear their parents' burden of disease. Shall we say that questions arise in this connection too delicate foi discussion with young persons? Is it better to leave the discussion to be raised after it is too late? Tho sensible view of marriage is tha view that comprehends every consequence. conse-quence. To tho young people look ug forward to a long and happy wed d life it is of vital importance that no o-ment o-ment of the subject shall be a myst ry; that nothing connected with the ma i-monial i-monial venturo shall be loft to the iz-ardofohance. iz-ardofohance. Parents must unders id that their children are to be par ts; that there is no escape from the responsibility, responsi-bility, and that education is incomplete and training inadequate which does not qualify for paternity and m ternity.
