Joyce has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 57 years, where she has promoted an understanding of patriotism and been an outstanding example of responsible citizenship and leadership. Joyce will be remembered by the older people in our community as the happy, smiling soda fountain attendant at the Boyden Drug Store in Coalvilte for many years before becoming a clerk in the bank. Joyce has always been community- minded, and has sewed two terms as President of the Coalville BPW Club and is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization. She was instrumental in organizing the sale of the Community Birthday calendar for many years and using the proceeds of the project to help to send numerous girls from North Summit High School to attend Girls State since 1971. She has always been wiling to sacrifice her time and talents as a leader, and her influence and service will be remembered and emulated by others. She has always carried a positive attitude, and even in times of difficulty, she makes the comment "We're going to be all right!"
