"We are very excited about the tournament this year," said Drive4Food president Jeff Jarman, "the tournament and our fundraising for the Pantry has grown a great deal in the last three years thanks to increased participation from the community. We have more tournament sponsors this year than ever before — Big Pine Sports, Skyline Motor Sports, Thrifty Nickel, MKJ Construction, Cox Automotive. In addition, many members of the community have stepped up to be hole sponsors. " The two-person scramble tournament will be June 21, 2014 at the Skyline Mountain Resort Golf Course (435-427-9575) beginning at 9:00 am and includes hole-in-one prizes (a Kymco 500 side by side is one), and other contests. "Drive4Food is a volunteer organization formed in 2012 for the purpose of raising funds for the Sanpete Pantry. Drive4Food passed a rigorous screening by the IRS to attain the 501C3 status that allows donations to be tax deductible," says Board member Sean Kearney. "Drive4Food also meets the stringent requirements of the State of Utah to be a `Charitable Organization'. Because we are a volunteer organization 100% of donations received go to the Pantry. The very minimal expenses we incur are covered by our event sponsors." She is currently serving in Palo Cedro and surrounding communities. This is just east of Redding. She and her companion are both "small town girls" serving in a small town and they are the only sister companionship in the mission to drive a truck. She says everyone there has animals. She feels right at home. Elli is loving every minute of her mission and is grateful that she has so much support from family and friends back home. She says that having so many different kinds of friends and family has helped her to be able to relate well to the people she has been called to serve. Elli is the daughter of Matt and Brandi Reber of Axtell. 'Do Your Best Automotive, MKJ Construction and the DNR are working with Fairview City to put on an OHV ride as a fundraiser for the Sanpete Pantry in conjunction with Fairview City's Pioneer Days celebration. Said Pantry Director Sara Schrader, "The Sanpete Pantry is not a government organization and is supported by private donations and small grants. Drive4Food's fundraising for the Pantry is very important toward keeping our doors open. We ask everyone to support their efforts."
