Hyatt 1921 2011 Elder Jacob Davis GUNNISON - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lola Elaine Bjerregaard Hyatt, age 90, died June 17, 2011 at the home of her son in Gunnison. She was born April 18, 1921 in Axtell, Utah, a daughter of Allen Eugene and Deveda Kistie Johnson Bjerregaard. She was raised in Axtell and always considered it her home. She graduated from Gunnison Valley High School. She married Dearrel Decker Hyatt, July 8, 1939 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died August 20, 1983. Elaine worked as a seamstress at Pacific Trails in Manti, Carlyles in Gunnison and Redmond and at the Parachute Plant in Manti. She was an excellent seamstress and even made her own mattress. She enjoyed cooking, being a homemaker and housewife, farming and raising beautiful flowers. She looked forward to the Deer Hunt each year, where she worked long and hard, cooking food for the mighty hunters. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and care givers with Gunnison Hospice, for their gentle care and love they have shown our dear mother. Elaine is survived by her five sons: Roger and Ida Hyatt of Salt Lake City; Jimmy and Lynn Hyatt of Mayfield; Allen and Connie Hyatt of Cleveland; LaVal and Ranae Hyatt of Gunnison; Earl Hyatt of Pah- Graduation Jacob Pike Davis has been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will serve in the Argentina Neuquen Mission. Jacob will enter Missionary Training Center on July 6, 2011. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center Street in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. Elder Jace Anderson Elder Jace Anderson returned home from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint in Tacoma, Washington on Wednesday, June 21, 2011. He will be reporting on his mission on Sunday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the Gunnison 5th Ward Sacrament Meeting. Jace is the son of Mark and Deah Anderson of Gunnison and the grandson of Doreen Anderson and the late Edward Anderson. 40th Birthday Jesse D. Jensen, D. O. Jesse D. Jensen, DO, son of Michael and Mary Jensen of Gunnison, is graduating from his transitional year of medical residency through the Henry Ford Hospital system in Detroit, Michigan. Following graduation from his one year internship on June 30, 2011, Dr. Jensen will commence a three-year medical, surgical, and histopathological training program in the specialty of dermatology through Michigan State and Wayne State University. Dr. Jensen has had clinical research published in peerreviewed medical journals on the topic of melanoma in the Journal of Surgical Oncology and Annals of Surgical Oncology. He has also recently published research on cystic fibrosis in the Journal of Cellular Physiology and Biochemistry. He graduated third in his class with the academic honor of "Third Scholastic Honor." He was also named on the "Cumulative Dean's Honor List." He received The Bernhard Gottlieb Memorial Award in Oral Pathology, Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry, and The Warren Parker Com- munity Dentistry Award. Christopher, his wife Brittany, and their little son Clark moved to Columbus, Ohio shortly after to begin his residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Ohio State University. The Pedodontics Program at Ohio State is ranked #1 in the nation and is a two-year program. Christopher is the son of Greg and Marcia Rosenvall and the grandson of Clyde and Jean Rosenvall and Richard and Ana Brunner. New Horizons is taking application for volunteer advocates. Advocates provide crisis intervention and work directly with victims of domestic violence, providing education and information pertaining to the rights and choices of the victim and the dynamics of abuse. •An 8 lb. 1 oz. baby boy was born to Brady and Laura Belnap of Mayfield on May 26, 2011. •A 5 lb. 3 oz. baby girl was born to Travis and Marti Anderson of Elsinore on May 27, 2011.
