Although reluctant at first to travel, she has been convinced by her family to take the surprise paid trip to Southern California. A plan was put in to motion several months ago to have her travel for Thanksgiving with her family members in California. She and her travel companion Tammy (daughter) will arrive Friday Nov. 20th in San Diego and depart Saturday Nov. 28th.from John Wayne airport in Orange County. She and Tammy will stay at her oldest daughter Darla Kimball’s home in Escondido. No plans other than visiting have been made to date with the exception of Thanksgiving. Traditional Thanksgiving dinner and get together will be at oldest son Duane Nielsen’s home in Mission Viejo. Duane and Darla were both born in the old Gunnison Valley Hospital. Lila has not been to see the California families in several years so she is overdue. Duane’s house will be overflowing with him and his wife Alice’s family of four daughters with their families of five grandchildren. At this time I am unsure if Darla and her husband Russ are having their three children and five grandchildren join us. It is too bad that our Utah families Teryle and Jean, Cory and Lillian and Wendy have to stay behind but I know it will be at least 70 degrees and not 30 or less on Thanksgiving. Another surprise awaiting Lila on Thanksgiving is Duane’s daughter Stacie, husband Mark, their two sons and of course Boo, the family Chocolate Lab. from Colorado are also making the trip to Southern California. Darla’s husband Russ, Duane’s son-inlaw Todd and grandson Gavin are avid surfers. What do you think the chances are that we can get Great Grandma out to try some waves? I doubt it too. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for what we all have. Family, friends, loved ones and the freedoms we all share. From our home to yours, have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving and God bless America and our troops. Subscribe to the Gazette!
