Show Society Thursday, October 22, 2009 The Gunnison Valley Gazette Travis Leatherwood Centerfield City Council My name is Travis Leatherwood and I am running for the city council in Centerfield. I was born and raised in the Taylorsville/Bennion area in Salt Lake. Both of my parents were in education and instilled in all their kids a big desire to serve and help others. My “platform” is service; I want to serve those in the community where I live. I graduated from Taylorsville high school in 1995. After a year of college at Rick’s I served an LDS mission to Guatemala, upon returning I married Angela Hill of Granger. I received my Associates degree from SLCC and then a Bachelors degree from Weber State. I was hired and taught four years at Bingham in South Jordan before moving to Centerfield. Meanwhile, I finished a Masters in education from the University of Phoenix. We feel moving to Centerfield has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. The people here have Wedding First Birthday Rylee Jo Bartholomew been so welcoming and accepting of us. We have made some friendships and associations that have resulted in some great memories and experiences for our family. Living in such a family oriented community has had a lasting impact and our kids have had a lot of wonderful opportunities that they wouldn’t have had anywhere else and I would like to try and do what I can to show appreciation to the town of Centerfield. Janice Bown Fayette Town Council I am excited to be running for the town council in Fayette. My husband Bob and I have lived in Fayette since we were married and we have raised our family here. I truly value the unique environment found in our town and hope to be able to help preserve the small town flavor while implementing changes and improvements that will be of benefit to the residents here. My past involvement with the town council has included serving as town clerk for several years and serving as an appointed member of the council. Some of the things that were accomplished during that time, through efforts of the mayor and council, included completion of a new culinary water system, bringing natural gas service to the community, establishment of a town planning and zoning committee, GPS mapping of the cemetery, and submission of a cemetery database to the state archives. I would like to see Fayette continue to make improvements to the community and complete the park area with Page 3 Rylee Jo Bartholomew turns 1 year old on October 21st, 2009. Road maintenance and improvement also need to be addressed with the tightening of available funding. There are unique and continuing challenges that face small communities with the economic downturn and financial difficulties. I hope that my experience with small town government, town finances and grants could be of use to the town council and our community. If elected, I will do all I can to fulfill my responsibilities as a member of the town council. Smith Bros.
