Show Thursday, June 26, 2008 Society The Gunnison Valley Gazette Page 3 Obituaries Graduations Missionary Arthur Glenn Eves Jr. 1933 - 2008 Shelby Lund Elder Alexander Ryan Jensen Arthur Glenn Eves Jr. passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 in Salt Lake City. He is now in the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ and beloved mother, Zora Mae, who died three years ago. Arthur was born in Berkeley, California on October 27, 1933 to Arthur Glenn and Zora Mae Amtoft Eves. He attended Springville, Utah schools and graduated in 1952 from Springville High. He was on the state championship basketball team that year. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1953-1955. He met Carol Joan Wartena and they were married November 2, 1956 in the Los Angeles Temple. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany being honorably discharged after two years. Arthur had a great love for singing with his beautiful tenor voice. He sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1970 to 1972. He loved the scriptures and was often found in the early morning hours studying them. His greatest treasure is his eternal family; his wife of 51 years, and 11 children: Daniel (Sharon) Eves, Beverly (Jon) Strahan, Arthur Jay (Leisa) Eves, Chris Eves, Sarah (Mike) Morrill, Robin Tarr, Anita (Todd) Cripps, Elizabeth (Rob) Morrill, Rebecca (Cameron) Knudson, David (Alexis) Eves, Sally (Ryan) Whittaker. Plus his amazing 55 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings: Maxine (Grant) Weight, Wendell (Carol Jean) Eves, Carol Joy (D.) Scheiss, Paul (Joy) Eves, and Howard (Ann) Eves. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and sister Beverly who died shortly after birth. Art will be greatly missed by his friends and family, but we know he is waiting for us in heaven saving “seats” until we all arrive and fill them. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Arthur Eves Memorial Fund through Wells Fargo Bank. Funeral services were held Monday, June 23, 2008, in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel. A viewing was held Sunday evening at the chapel and again Monday morning. Burial was in the Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale with military rites by the Utah Veterans Tribute. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary. com Shelby Reid Lund graduated May 2, 2008 from the Snow College South Practical Nursing Program. Shelby was also honored to receive the Susan Ferguson Memorial Scholarship, as pictured. Susan’s son awarded the scholarship at the pinning ceremony that same evening. Shelby also received a scholarship through HOSA. Shelby served as Vice-President of her Nursing Class and was also honored to receive the Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 4.0 throughout the entire year. She has also been accepted to the Registered Nursing Program through Weber State University and will begin her studies this fall. She is currently employed at the Gunnison Valley Elder Alex R Jensen has returned home from the Peru Lima East Mission on June 25th, 2008. He will be speaking in the Gunnison First Ward on July 13th at 9 a.m. Elder Jensen is the son of Brent and Shannon Jensen, and the grandson of Arlo and Doris Jensen of Gunnison, and Alda H. Murphy and the late James V. Murphy of Bountiful, Ut. Hospital. Shelby is the wife of Matt Lund and the daughter of Darrel and Stacey Reid of Gunnison. Grandparents are Morris and Bonnie Reid of Gunnison and Mel and Claudia Briggs of Aurora. Joshua Reid Joshua Darrel Reid graduated April 25, 2008 from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors of Science degree in the field of Biology. Josh is currently working as a website manager and designer and provides home computer services in Sanpete County. While he works parttime on computer services, he is preparing for medical school. Josh is the husband of Jenny Reid and the son of Darrel and Stacey Reid of Gunnison. Grandparents are Morris and Bonnie Reid of Gunnison and Mel and Claudia Briggs of Aurora. Retirement Satterfield - Mecham Que Mickelsen 1921 - 2008 REDMOND, UT - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Que Mickelsen, age 87, passed away June 20, 2008 in Gunnison, Utah. Que was born January 22, 1921 in Redmond, Utah, a son of Charles Arthur Mickelsen and Christy Marie Breinholt. He graduated from North Sevier High School. Que married Mathel Helen Sorensen November 4, 1941 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple, March 2, 1957. Que is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held various positions and was a faithful home teacher. Que served on the Redmond Town Board, the ASCS Board, and was a member of the Redmond Lions Club. Que was a farmer and livestockman. He was a man of quiet faith, a hard worker, and lived an honest life. He took pride in a job well done. Que is survived by his wife, Mathel, Redmond; his children: Ellen (Ronald) Bosshardt, Redmond; Glen (Linda) Mickelsen, Redmond; Norma (Larry) Streadbeck, Kaysville; Myron (Joy) Mickelsen, Redmond; his sisters: Veone Kelson, West Valley; Colleen Nielson, Richfield; and Merle Wedding Chad Jamie Satterfield and Melissa Kay Mecham will be married on Saturday, June 28th. A reception will be held in their honor that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Putters Grill at the Palisade Golf Course, 2200 East Palisade Road, Sterling, Utah. Parents of the bride are Bryan and Katrina Mecham of Mt. Pleasant. Parents of the groom are Victor and Kelli Satterfield of Gunnison. American Cancer Society Relay for Life Auction (LaMar) Whitlock, Midvale; 21 grandchildren and 58 greatgrandchildren. Que is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Arthur and Christy Marie Mickelsen; his sister, Marcella Hansen; and his brother Derrald Mickelsen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Redmond LDS Chapel (310 West 100 North). Friends may call Tuesday evening, June 24, 2008 at the Redmond Chapel from 6:30-8 p.m. and again at the ward chapel on Wednesday morning from 10-11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery.
