It always seems to turn cold for Halloween trick or treating. The Gunnison Valley Middle School 7th and 8th grade students attended a Halloween dance on Friday evening at the Ephraim Middle School. The students look so nice in their dresses and the boys in nice shirt and ties. I am glad to see some activities require nice dress. The Gunnison Valley 'Elementary School held their annual Halloween Carnival on Friday evening with all the students dressed in costumes. The Gunnison Valley High School FFA Chapter spent the weekend in Las Vegas attending a seminar on Friday and that evening they attended the PBR Bull Riding Finals and rock climbing on Saturday. These events were sponsored by the US Army. Attending FFA members from Axtell were Allen Boore, Ben Boore, Sammy Brown, Brendan Davis, Kade Despain, Tyrell Hansen and Cheyenne Thatcher. Cheyenne was a lucky girl as she received a nice pair of cowboy boots when the clown chose her to dance with. Danny and Nancy Boore also went and drove a vehicle down. Congratulations to Stephanie Boore Nielson and Jay Bartholomew on earning their American FFA Degree, which will be presented at the National Convention held later this year. Two young women from the Centerfield 1st Ward received their Young Womanhood Recognition Awards on Sunday, October 22, 2006. Jaclyn Simonsen, the daughter of Tracy and Melanie Simonsen of Centerfield, enjoyed learning to plant, weed and harvest a garden from one of her Value Projects. She also made a quilt and compiled a history of her great-grandfathers on the computer. Dixie Sorensen, the daughter of Wayne and Ann Sorensen learned to alter and mend clothing, participated in student government and organized a hair Cut-A-Thon to benefit Locks of Love for some of her projects. We are very proud of Jaclyn and Dixie. Jaclyn Simonsen Dixie Sorensen The Gunnison Valley Gazette can address, stamp and mail your invitations {o\ less than it will cost you just to mail them!
