If a ladybug is held in the hand while making a wish, some believe the direction that it flies away shows from where your luck will come. Some cultures believe ladybugs carry away illness if they land on you and fly away unassisted. Counting spots will tell you any number of things such as how many months of good fortune one will have in the coming year, how many children the person holding it will have, and/or how much money one may expect to gain. They are often seen as symbols of keeping safe and healthy, which is why ladybugs often appear on children’s clothing. Because ladybugs eat many of the insects that cause damage to garden plants, a good population of them help prevent the need for harmful pesticides. The ladies’ choir, formed in 1981, and made up of current and past residents of Ogden Valley, have been practicing since midSeptember. This year’s theme, “Ring Those Christmas Bells,” will be sure to delight young and old. This December, the Chordettes will join their voices with a local bell choir directed by Becky Adams. The Chordettes Orchestra will also be highlighted and joining the choir and bells to fill the Hearthside with beautiful Christmas music! Be sure and set aside December 10 and December 11 so you can attend one of the Chordettes’ three concerts. Sunday, December 10, there will be two concerts given, one at 5:00 p.m. and the second at 7:00 p.m. On Monday, December 11, there will be one concert at 7:00 p.m. All performances will be held, as usual, at The Hearthside, located in Eden, Utah. Director Kay Kilgore notes how perfect the Hearthside is for their concerts, “The Hearthside is the ideal venue for the Chordettes’ Christmas concerts. Dave and Ruth Martin, owners of the Hearthside, generously donate the use of their facility every December. It is such a generous gift and benefits not only the Chordettes, but the entire Ogden Valley Community!” Many who have attended past Chordettes Christmas concerts at the Hearthside have com- mented on how it feels like being in a Hallmark movie. The Chordettes can’t wait to share their love of song, music, and Christmas. See you in December!
