Show Volume XXX Issue XI The Ogden Valley News Page 13 August 15, 2023 Imagine Music Huntsville Students Perform Live! More live music in the Ogden Valley? Yes indeed! Family, friends, and the local community recently enjoyed a special live concert in Huntsville. What made this performance extra amazing? The performers were all under the age of 17! This unique concert showcased two teenage rock bands, produced by Imagine Music Huntsville, as part of a popular program called “Rock, Pop & Country Academy.” This awardwinning program proved incredibly popular at Imagine Music’s Ogden location for years, and the Ogden Valley is now catching the wave. Ten lucky students at Imagine Music Huntsville—in the heart of Huntsville Town— participated in the inaugural program launch. Our eight-week program included weekly band practice (where band members of each group pick, learn, and practice a handful of songs by popular artists) and culminated in a live performance on the final week. The benefits of this program are numerous. Participating students typically practice ten times more, see their efforts in tangible results, and, most importantly, learn a number of musical and social skills in band practice, such as breaking down social barriers, building confidence in themselves and their fellow band mates, improving their communication skills, and facing the always-exciting-andoften-nerve-wracking feelings that accompany live performances. The Rock, Pop & Country Academy summer session was so popular that parents and students immediately requested more! Imagine Music Huntsville is currently working on “imagining” up the next season, which should be launching very soon. Stay tuned! August Fun @ the Ogden Valley Branch Library What’s the question? That year there were eight hot air balloons and ten vendor booths. Approximately a thousand people attended the two-day event. By 2002, the event had grown to 30 hot air balloons and 120 vendor booths with approximately 80,000 people in attendance during the three-day event.
