Show Volume XXX Issue X The Ogden Valley News Page 7 August 1, 2023 Announcements Obituaries Gary Christian Kapp March 11, 1937 ~ July 15, 2023 Gary Christian Kapp, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and greatgrandfather, was called home to our Heavenly Gary Kapp Father July 15, 2023. Gary was born March 11,1937 to Christian and Josephine Vander Heide Kapp in Ogden, Utah. Gary is survived by his wife Judy Hansen Kapp, his sister Joan Lewis, his daughters Kelly Grover (Greg), Kristi Holley (Chad), Kendra Hansen Nilsen (Joe), Lisa Kopecky (Todd), and Kim Lasater Shepherd (Brad); grandchildren Jon Holley (Racheal), Jared Holley (Carmen), Rick Boman, Alisha Payton (Brian), Brandon Payton, Elizabeth Shepherd, Benjamin Shepherd, Braiden Singleton Nilsen, Bailee Lutz, Blake Prout, Berklee Nilsen, and Byron Nilsen; several nieces and nephews; and eleven great-grandchildren who he adored. Gary always saw the best in everyone. He never held a grudge and loved unconditionally. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball at Ben Lomond High School and received awards for his athletic ability. He also served as Student Body President. He received a football scholarship to Utah State, where he became an all-America football player, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. He was part of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Air Force ROTC. After college, he taught school and coached for Ogden City Schools. He worked as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad, and as a manpower management analyst for Hill Air Force Base and retired from Hill with 24 years of dedicated service where he won many prestigious awards. He was an avid golfer who loved the game and played for many years with his wife Judy and countless friends. He also served on the ski patrol at Snow Basin ski resort and took his daughters with him every weekend to ski. He was also a ski instructor and enjoyed countless years with his ski adventures. He loved skiing almost as much as golf. He was part owner of Nordic Valley for a while and built a beautiful A-frame home there and was heavily involved with the community. He also enjoyed river rafting, camping, fishing, and playing the guitar and singing. He would play his guitar for us at our family events. Gary was a very kind, loving husband and father who would do anything for his family. He truly enjoyed all the wonderful friends he met, and stayed in touch with so many of them. He loved meeting with his crew at the Newgate Mall to shoot the bull. He enjoyed life to the fullest and never ceased to have a good time, making sure others did as well. He was hard working and honest and an amazing man who will be sorely missed by so many! He never missed attending his grandkids’ games and graduations, and also attended them for his great-grandchildren. He was always there to support us! He enjoyed cookouts with the kids and made the best potato salad in the world, and could cook a steak you’d never forget. He and his sister Joan had a very close relationship, and he loved his nieces very much. His dog Lola was his guard dog and protector along with his sweet dog Elliot. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Ray Lewis, and his daughter Dannie Wiggins. Claudia Annette Field Drake, 78, died July 9, 2023. Connie Lucille Lines, 81, died July 12, 2023. Jerry Dee Garrett, 84, died Friday, July 14, 2023. Rena Josephine Rauzi Prevedel, 100, died July 14, 2023. Sister Luke (Lucille) Hoschette, 97, died July 15, 2023. Robert W. (Bob) Eames, 82, died July 16, 2023. Thomas Arnold Favero, 85, died July 21, 2023. William DeVon (Von) Coles, 82, died July 21, 2023. Je昀昀rey Lynn Farr February 2, 1952 ~ May 13, 2023 Jeffrey Lynn Farr, 71, of Ogden Utah passed away May 13, 2023, surrounded by loving family in Hawaii where he lived for the last ten years. Jeffrey Farr Jeff was born February 2, 1952 in Ogden Utah to R. Asael Farr and Sharon L Nebeker. He graduated from Weber High School and spent most of his life in the Ogden area. Jeff loved the outdoors, skiing, the mountains, sports, fishing, his grandkids, and family. He and many of his Daniel Vern Loveland November 17, 1975 ~ July 7, 2023 Born to Marilyn Loveland, November 17,1975 Daniel worked hard, played hard, loved hard, and lived hard, down to Daniel Loveland the last breath he took with his mom and his forever love by his side. He lived in Las Vegas, in his younger years where he celebrated his 18th birthday and experienced a lot. Daniel was a very talented carpenter for many years. He left the mark of his heart in his work everywhere. Daniel loved his career at DSI, and his DSI family. He always said it was “The best job I’ve ever had.” He was able to travel all over the United States with this job and with people who became lifelong friends and family. No matter where Daniel was, he made lifelong friends. Daniel loved an adventure and lived fully in the moment! What a thrill seeker he was! Sky diving with his mom, roller coasters, concerts, camping, river trips, the Denver Broncos, dogs, and conversation. Making memories and mak- friends were also at the forefront of Freestyle skiing in the 1970s. Jeff married Karen Wright in 1977 and together had three children. He was later blessed with two grandsons. He is preceded in death by both of his parents R. Asel Farr and Sharon John. Jeff is survived by Karen Wright Farr, his children Julia (Brandon) Smart, Jeff L. Farr Jr. (Skyler), and Sharon E. Farr (Aerial); grandsons Aiden and Alex Smart; his siblings: Asael D Farr, Phillip (Wylie) Farr, and Dayna Farr; as well as bonus mom Barbara Farr, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held in his honor on September 2, 2023 in Eden, Utah. Daniel adored his grandbabies. He spent the last 12 years with his best friend and forever love, Natalie Wesley, who he affectionately referred to as “My Dummy.” One of Daniel’s greatest passions was his love of dogs. He is leaving behind Soraya and Willow, but he was excited to reunite with Karyzma who was anxiously waiting for him. He is urvived by his mother, Marilyn Loveland; Natalie Wesley (Briggs and River); Orlando Treto; daughters Mercedes Martinez and Isabelle Barber (Matthew Barber); grandbabies (JoLisa and Oaklee); Daisee Loveland; Savannah Loveland (Richard); and Rainey Loveland. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by grandparents Vern Loveland and Wenona Loveland. One of many celebrations of his life was held July 22, 2023, at his brother’s home in Evergreen Park, near Causey.
