Show Page 4 The Ogden Valley News Volume XXX Issue X August 1, 2023 EAC Announces Its 49th Annual Statewide Competition Exhibit & August Events Ogden’s Eccles Art Center (EAC), 2580 Jefferson Avenue, announces its 49th Annual Statewide Competition Exhibit. This statewide competition was open to all artists who presently reside in the state of Utah, and accepted original works of art, including paintings, prints, drawings, graphics, pottery, sculptures, and textiles. As this is a juried competition, only works accepted by the juror will be exhibited. Monetary awards will be posted at the artists’ reception and online at ogden4arts.org. The reception for artists, friends, and the community will be held Friday, August 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ogden Art Center. The center’s staff is excited to have Bob Adams and Ogden’s String Theory perform at the reception. Chairs will be placed in the courtyard for you to stop by to listen. The 49th Annual Statewide exhibit will be on display August 4 through August 26, 2023. Regular gallery hours are weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A virtual tour of the exhibit may be reviewed online at ogden4arts.org. We invite you to enjoy the David & Bertha Wall Mural on the EAC’s performing arts building, the children’s art yard, and the sculptures in our gardens during your visit. The Eccles Art Center’s Summer Art Fair will be presented each Saturday in August, including August 5, 12, 19 and 26. The EAC Summer Art Fair includes local artists’ vendors selling their work from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and local performing artists providing entertainment from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bob Adams and Ogden’s String Theory will be the first performers on August 5. The entertainment schedule is being planned. Over 30 local visual artists have registered for vendor booths. Vendors space is still available for one or more of the Saturdays. Those interested may reach Meredith at meredith@ ogden4arts.org. Different vendors will be featured each Saturday throughout the Fair. During the Summer Art Fair, an arts exploration table will be set up in the EAC’s Art Studio for children and interested adults to create a complimentary project. The art studio, Carriage House, and Main Galleries are air conditioned for when or if you need a respite from the heat. Each Saturday in August, during the Summer Art Fair, the public is invited to shop with the vendors and in the center’s galleries while enjoying the scheduled entertainment. Buy artful presents for family, friends, or for yourself! The Eccles Art Center in celebration of the beauty of flowers, art, and summer will exhibit competition works by resident Utah floral artists and interior designers. Original floral designs will be created to accompany art works from the 47th Annual Statewide Competition. Categories will include permanent botanicals and fresh floral material. Awards will be presented in both categories. A silent auction of floral artistry and a gathering for designers, friends, and the community will be held Thursday, August 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A $10 donation is requested at the door. Silent auction floral works not sold on August 24 will be available to the general public on August 25. Designs completed for the Art in Bloom Competition will be on display for the public Friday August 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and August 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with complimentary admission.
