Show Page 6 The Ogden Valley News Volume XXX Issue X March 1, 2023 Announcements Obituaries Kyle Stanley Stoker March 11, 1961 ~ February 11, 2023 Kyle Stanley Stoker, 61, returned to his Heavenly Father Saturday, February 11, 2023, due to unexpected medical complications. He was born March 11, 1961 to Karl Sherman and Ida Mae Underwood Stoker. Kyle was raised in Clearfield, Utah, later moved to Ogden Canyon, and graduated from Weber High School. Kyle married Julayne Maw February 15, 1979 in Plain City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Bountiful, Utah, Temple on their 23rd Wedding Anniversary. His employment included working for Arrow Development Company as a fitter welder, building roller coasters for amusement parks; Randy Marriott January 12, 1955 ~ February 18, 2023 Randy Marriott passed away unexpectantly on February 18, 2023 in his home due to natural causes. Randy was born Randy Marriott January 12, 1955 in Ogden, Utah to Harold and Joyce (Thedell) Marriott. He was the middle child of five siblings: Mike, Nancy, Patti, and Jan. He married Kami Francis in 1975. They were blessed with four amazing children: J.D., Amy, Colt, and Travis. They later divorced but remained close, raising their children and running multiple businesses together. The legacy of Randy Marriott is astonishing, to say the least. From an early age, Randy knew the meaning of hard work and determination. Over 46 years ago, he bought a backhoe, and together, Randy and Kami started a successful construction company. He invested a lot of time building and developing the community that he loved. He was born and raised in Plain City, and he never left. His time there was well spent, building many successful businesses, and fulfilling dreams and enjoying hobbies that he loved. He was happiest when operating heavy equipment, working on the farm, watching his horses run, watching the geese, or fishing in Alaska. Randy was well respected for the many accomplishments he was able to carry out in his lifetime. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Randy was proceeded in death by his mother, stepdad Jr. Atkinson, father, daughter-inlaw Nichole, and brother-in-law John Runyen. He is survived by his former wife, Kami for Big D Construction as a building erector; with his father running Stoker Car Wash; and, finally, pursuing his dream of starting his own trucking company, Stoker Trucking, which is now run by his son Nathan Stoker, with 22 years of dedicated service. Kyle was passionate about spending time with his family camping, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and fishing. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and operating his backhoe, “The Grave Digger.” He could often be found working on vehicles and building or repairing his homes, always with his devoted sidekick, Julayne. Kyle is survived by his loving wife, Julayne Maw Stoker; three children, Nathan (Alicia) Stoker, Nikael Stoker Choules, and Neriece Stoker; six grandchildren, Kamyn and Kenya Stoker, Kylee and Shyla Choules, and Julayne and Julyenne Stoker; and two sisters, Kathy Stoker and Robin Heslop. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David Stoker. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Plain City 2nd Ward Chapel, 2952 N. 4200 W. Interment, Plain City Cemetery. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mylee and Taegan Marriott, Ceejae (Preston) Gladwell, Macie and Cutler Roskelley, Fynlee and Swade Marriott; and his great-granddaughter Slater J Gladwell, who blessed our hearts when she was born the day after his passing. He is also survived by his siblings, including stepsisters Lydia, Laura, and Luann; and girlfriend Nancy Rolfe. A private service for the immediate family will be held at Myers Mortuary of Ogden on Friday, February 24, followed by an interment service at Warren Cemetery. A celebration of life to honor Randy will be held at a later date where family, friends, and associates can share memories and pay respects to an amazing man. December 5, 1943 ~ February 18, 2023 James Corbett McKay, 79, of Huntsville, Utah, passed away at home surrounded by loving family on February 18, 2023 James McKay after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born December 5, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to Neva Pearl Corbett and Perry Merrill Beckstead. Later, his mother married John Angus McKay, who raised Jim as his own and adopted him. As a child, Jim loved spending time with his Grandma and Grandpa Corbett where he developed a life-long passion for gardening and frugal living. He was also actively involved in 4-H raising sheep and in FFA raising cows. Jim was a lifelong learner with a sharp, inquisitive mind. His love for reading started in his Grandpa McKay’s vast home library where he spent hours absorbing gospel doctrine books. One of his many joys in life was the opportunity to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England. When Jim returned home, he met the love of his life, Carson Walker. The couple were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 17, 1966. Jim was a stalwart in the Church and faithfully served in many callings. One of his greatest achievements was building a successful business—over 40 years—which allowed him the freedom to diligently serve 16 years as Huntsville Town Mayor. Vonda L. Each morning he always said, “it’s going to be a great day!” He loved staying connected with friends and spending time with his grandchildren—especially taking them on walks through the riverbottoms, gathering around the campfire, and roasting marshmallows. He is survived by his loving wife, Carson, of 56 years and six children: James Walker McKay, Huntsville, Utah; Kymberli Turner, Lehi, Utah; Stephani (Eddie) Edmunds, Draper, Utah; Cydni (Daniel) Tavarez, Walnut Creek, California; Melani (Carl) Cornista, Farmington, Utah; and Staci (Gregory) Mitzman, Boise, Idaho. Jim is also the proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren: Jaxton (Becca), Clansi, Dakota, Chloe, Ace, Presley, Zanna, Beck, Kiesel, Harper, Cruz, and Grey. He is also survived by his siblings: Susan McKay, Sandra McKay (Blaine), Jay (Paula) Beckstead, and Richard (Kathleen) Beckstead; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Dan McKay and Sidney Beckstead. One of the most important life lessons Jim instilled in us—to see the good in others. As he always said, “Paying a compliment and sharing a smile goes a long way.” Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 277 S. 7400 E., Huntsville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:30 a.m. Interment at the Huntsville Town Cemetery.
