Show Che Sentinel Guardian of Your Community News Nebo Philharmonic WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 2010 • A5 Achievement Lila Christensen Smith Christian Thompson / Hie Sentinel POET AND PEASANT: The Nebo Philharmonic presented their "Poet and Peasant" concert on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork. The performance included "Poet and Peasant Overture," by Suppe, "Rustic Wedding Symphony," by Goldmark, "The Wild Dove," by Dvorak and "Spring," part of "The Seasons," by Vivaldi. Yaegi Kim was the guest violinist. Scouting for food Photo of the month On the morning of Saturday, March 27 Scouts collect non-perishable food items in their neighborhoods. Leave your food out on your doorstep before 8 a.m. and they will come to pick it up. All donations will go to the Community Action Food Bank in Provo and will feed families in need in the community. For more information, visit www.CommunityActionUC.org. A lifelong resident of Spanish Fork has retired at the young age of 84 years, from Pink Lady Volunteers, with 42 years service. Mom started her career at Utah Valley Hospital (Provo) where she served in Physical Therapy, surgical recovery and receptionist at the front desk. She then transferred to Mountain View Hospital (Payson) as receptionist at the front desk. She has loved this opportunity to work with the hospital staff, many friends and fellow Pink Ladies. Mom would like to thank everyone, and has appreciated this opportunity, she will miss it, as we are sure they will miss her. Her family celebrated this great accomplishment, along with her birthday March 7th at the Western Inn dinning room in Span- ish Fork. Lila is wife of the late Floyd Smith, and mother of Shirleen (Max) Bennett and Lisa (Gary) Warner of Salem, Brent (Debbie) Smith, Jay Floyd Smith, and Chris (Michell) Smith of Spanish Fork. Way to go Mom, you' re a wonderful mother, and a great example for all of your family, we are so very proud of you. Congratulations! 'Music Man' auditions Auditions for Spanish Fork Community Theater's 2010 Fiesta Days production, "Music Man," will be held March 18-19 from 6-8:30 p.m. and March 20 from 10 a.m.-l p.m. at Diamond Fork Jr. High. Those unable to come at these times may contact Adam Cannon, 801420-8519 to make other arrangements. There are many roles for actors of all ages. SFCT asks that all family members sign in together. Come prepared to sing at least 16 bars of Broadway-style music. An accompanist and a CD player will be available. If you prefer not to sing, there are also non-singing roles. Come prepared with a one to two-minute monologue to perform. Dancing will also be part of the audition, so please dress appropriately.
