As part of the Latino Educators of Tomorrow (LET) program, students take two college level classes at the UVU campus. The goal of the LET program is to give Latino students a bridge from the public schools to the university. The LET program also aims to recruit Latino students into the field of education so they can return as certified teachers to their home districts. This summer, the two classes offered to the Nebo students were Introduction to Geology 1010 and Introduction to Education 1010. Thanks to a generous grant from the Brent Brown Automotive • Group, students were able to participate in this program free of charge. Every student passed the two classes and came away with the idea of continuing their education at the university level. UVU and Nebo School District hope to increase the number of students participating in the program next summer. The students involved in the program were: Monserrath Carmona, Springville High School; Yemina Geroli, Springville High School; Tania Hernandez, Spanish Fork High School; Kenya Jimenez, Spanish Fork High COLLEGE BRIDGE: Latino students from Nebo School District participated in UVU's Latino School; Israel Lopez, Springville High School; Michelle School; Norma Mendez, High School; Analy Porti- School; Gazelem Schobert, Lopez, Pay son High School; Spanish Fork High School; llo, Springville High School; Springville High School; Juan Lugo, Springville High Jeffrey Pereira, Payson Rocio Lara, Payson High Mitzi Schobert, Springville MMHS Drill Notices Courtesy photo GOLF CLASSIC: The Maple Mountain Drill Team Golf Classic will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at Spanish Oaks.
