Mature bucks are seldom 1 caught standing In the open In broad daylight. Instead, team to look into and through bushes instead of at them. Try to pick bits and pieces of a deer out of the bush. With your &yes and binoculars, look not for a deer but for something different: a shape, color, line, shadow, reflection, or mass that doesn't quite fit into the scene. The clue may be nothing more than a few inches of antler, a white horizontal belly, or the shiny blackness of an eye, and then all of a sudden the whole animal takes shape. Although they do not understand death, their distress is real when someone they are dose to does not return. * Children aged 2 to 5 often use magical thinking. They may not understand that death is final and might ask when a loved one will return, along with questions about hovy the dead person eats, drinks and sleeps. Schoolaged children are interested in the physical aspects of death and dying. They wonder what happens to the body after death and recognize that death may occur from a wide range of causes. By the age of 9, most children recognize that death is irreversible. The (Beaver Tress Your Herel WE SEE YOUR NEED FOR LIFE INSURANCE GROWING EVERY DAY WE LIVE WHERE YOU LIVE." • * Adolescents usually have an adult conceptualization or death, but like younger chifdren, believe it won't happen to them. They often have an "I'm invincible" attitude that leads to risktaking behavior. They may joke about death to cover thefr uneasiness. • Children's concepts about death and dying are influenced by the day-to-day experiences in their lives. The deaths of pets or loved ones can influence children's beliefs and understanding about death and dying. Children are exposed to death through television, which is often violent or highly distorted, and through literature. In addition, children's religious and cultural backgrounds are strong influences on their understanding of death and dying. • When children ask questions concerning death, they ar© looking for answers. Faulty communication, such as saying that a person has "gone to sleep," only confuses them. Parents should make it clear to children that the person has died and cannot come back. Parents and dose family members are very important sources in helping children understand death and dying. - The type of grief children express when someone close to them dies is largely dependent oh their age and stage of development. Younger children tend to react in accordance with the emotions that are expressed within the family, whereas older children often show their own unique grief. When parents are also grieving deeply themselves; children can feel Isolated. Children need to be able to show their emotions as well. They, need someone they can turn to in order to express their grief. Children should be encouraged to attend the funeral, if one is hold, as part of the process of facing the feelings of loss. • It is normal for children to express feelings of anger, guilt and despair after losing a loved one. Tney should be encouraged to express these emotions without feeling ashamed or looked down upon. Parents might feel uneasy seeing their children express these intense emotions, but they should not hinder the expression of their children's feelings. Different feelings may come and go; periods of sadness may be interrupted by periods of playing and laughing. This is often referred to as "on and off grief." Behavioral problems, both at home and school, can cause parents to become impatient with their children, but they should remain understanding of their children's need to express their feelings and should encourage them to express them appropriately HJBLIC NOTICES IXCMM we m m war KNOW; Moating Cancellation for The£fk Meadows Special Service District NOTICE is hereby given that the Elk Meadows Special Service District meeting scheduled for Friday, October 22, 2010 has been CANCELLED.
