W '* : * Deadline Fast Approaching to Receive Tax Break for 2009 (Sail Lake City) The State of Utah offers a state tax credit for Utah taxpayers who own and contribute to an account with the Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP). the state's 529 college savings program. To receive the 2009 credit, 'contributions are duo at the UESP office before 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time, Thursday, December 31, 2009. For 2009, Utah taxpayers can claim a 5% tax credit on UESP contributions up to $1,740 per beneficiary for single filers ($3,480 per beneficiary for joint filers).
