The Beaver City Council rnet at 4:00 p.m. in a regular session at the Beaver City Hall on March 10, 2009. The following members of the Council were present: Mayor Leonard Foster, Council Members, Karl Draper, Gordon Roberts, Craig Wright & Chris Smith. Also, present were City Manager, Brent Blackner, & City Recorder, Anona Yardloy. Council Member Connie Fails was absent and excused.. The Opening Ceremony of a thought, invocation, and Pledge of Allegiance was conducted by Mayor Foster. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES APPROVED: Minutes of the previous regular council meeting of February 24, 2009 were read . Council Member Draper moved and Council Member Smith seconded the minutes be approved with typing, and grammar corrections. All voted in favor of the motion. BILLS APPROVAL; Bills were presented and reviewed by the City Council. Council Member Wright moved and Council Member Smith seconded, the bills be approved for payment. All voted in favor. RACHEL KANELL * MAYOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL: Rachel Kanell, Youth Mayor met with the Council asking about projects the Youth Council could do. They would like to help with recreation projects, or beautification projects. The Council suggested trash pickup on 400 West at 600 North So McDonalds, help with the Triangle baautificatlon, and help painting red on the curbs, it was suggested that in the Youth Council survey a question be included about the classes community members would like offered, and if they would be willing to volunteer time for help on projects. SOUTH CENTRAL COMMUNICATIONS: Ken Plattf representative. .frfi&L^SouJh ..Central Communications, mot with the Council to explain the ariel map of Beaver City property on the airport road. South Central Communications proposes to place a pro-fab building on the southwest comer of the City's property wost of the Beaver County Correctional Facility. This will be the place where the fiber (oops could be re-routed in case of power outages. They wKl have a generator on the outside of the building. The Council suggested the building be moved further to the East so the City could have better access to the sower lines and high voltage lines. Two gates were proposed, one for South Central and one for Beaver City. A one time easement of $500 was suggested with a ten year renewable lease. The area must also be Kept clean and clutter free. Council Member Roberts moved and CounclE Member Smith seconded that South Central Communications be allowed to lease the ground from Beaver City. All voted in favor.The City attorney will write an agreement. Council Member Fails arrived at 4:45 p.m. BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE: Beaver City has an Ordinance that makes it possible to tow away inoperable vehicles on Beaver City streets with a 48 hour notice. The, Committee suggested spraying weeds around street signs, fire hydrants, and permanent City fixtures so the streets can be mowed more easily. The street ordinance was discussed further. The Beavers were hoping to continue their streak from the Chuck Wagon Classic. The Wolves came out and took the lead. The Beavers had a little trouble with Enterprise's pitcher, but still managed to score four runs and won the game. The final score was Beaver 4 Enterprise 3. On March 18 the Beavers hosted the Kanab Cowboys. The boys came out ready to take on their rival and do a better job at hitting. The Beavers fell, behind as the Cowboys scored in the early innings. However, in the sixth inning the Beavers rallied back and tied the score at ten. The Cowboys then scored a few more runs and stopped the Beavers to win the game. The final score was Beaver 10 Kanab 16. ' O n March 19 the Beavers hosted the Delta Rabbits. The Beavers were low on pitchers with this being the third game of the week. The Beavers were still having trouble at the plate. The Beavers tried to rally back to win the game, but came up short. The Beavers lost 3 to 11. On March 24 the Beavers traveled to Milford to take on the Tigers. The Beavers came out ready to take on the west side of the county. It was a close game until the Tigers took the lead. The Beavers tied up the score and tried to hold the Tigers from scoring. The Tigers came out And scored one more run to take the lead. The Beavers had one more chance to tie it up, but failed, The final score was Beaver 3 Milford 4. On1 March 25 the Beavers hosted the Monticello Buccaroos. The Beavers played two varsity games against Monticeilo, since it wa* such a long drive; The Beavers came out finally hitting the ball. The Beavers held the Buccaroos to one run. The Beavers ended up scoring 29 runs the first game, obviously winning the game. TheiseCond game started with the" Be^Vers being ftie visitors. This game was a lot like the first. However, Josh hit a line drive to the third baseman, and the ball hit him in the head. Coaches and others checked him out. His eye was starting to swell. They hurried and called significant contributions to make the 12th Annual charity tournament an outstanding success. Participants will play Entrada on Thursday, June 4,2009 and The Ledges on Friday, June 5,2009. The Council adjourned for a dinner break at 5:52 p.m. GOLF COURSE - RACE TRACK EXTENSION: At 7:00 p.m. the Council met with Beaver Golf Association and Horsemen to discuss the extension t>f the Beaver Race Track. Bob Davidson was spokesman for the Men's Golf Association. He voiced his concerns about the racetrack extension. He handed out three pages of information and concerns.
