If you find something you would like clarified or find unfair, please contact the editor at l.schmitz@ resident Barack Obama's second term is shaping up to be most polarized, if recent polling proves accurate. There are some possible reasons for this: Republicans might simply make it difficult for Obama to pass any part of his agenda, or Obama might act in a more liberal way. If the parties are not going to be able to come to the table and agree on fixing our country's problems, it comes down to our citizens to demand change. Americans can't complain that there is nothing that can be done. It is, however, up to the president to urge both parties to make compromises in order to negotiate solutions to the problems we now face. Obama should use the bully pulpit to do this, appealing directly to the American people. It is also important that we don't buy into the personal attacks — the character assassinations — both parties wage against each other. Most of all, Americans need to hold themselves accountable as voters. We must learn and understand the issues on local and federal levels, and rather than complaining, choose officials who will be able to make compromises, regardless of party affiliation. letters@chronicle.utah.edu Full horoscopes available online: www.dailyutahchronicle/horoscopes Gemini (May 21-June 21) Add more lightness to the moment, especially in difficult or uncomfortable situations. Obama's average approval differential is 70 points. Gallup states that the polarization is a reflection of the era, not necessarily of the job Obama is doing. Moreover, members of both parties are not looking beyond their party affiliation to evaluate the job the president is doing. Another reason to explain the record polarization during Obama's years in office is that he was fighting a re-election battle, and elections with incumbents are typically more polarized, since the president and the opposing party are looking ahead to their political Taurus (April 20-May 20) Allow greater creativity and more fun into your life. You could be upset by an event or an unexpected situation. 48 Hoi 6 7 Piano Scholarship Concert Libby Gardner Hall 7:30 p.m. Free for U students Aries (March 21-April 19) The unexpected occurs, and you seem to be the source of the energy.A surprise or change of plans is likely. 28 39 43 3 Balneotherapy locale 13 30 38 #26 of 26 37 12 35 31 Rare goose 11 25 34 12 Designer of the Tulip chair 36 10 9 22 27 Bust Chicken 8 24 30 35 7 19 29 54 60 6 26 37 Last day to withdraw from first-session classes Today's birthday: This year you will want to detach, especially when you are triggered. You will make more of an effort to look at the big picture.
