On ‘ Lord and : vember 12, 1895. ae great event of the ek here was the Re- Convention. publican Judicial Convention, at which the Hon. A. C. Hatch of Wasatch county carried away the plum. There was not the interest manifested in this convention by the elected delegates that was due it and it seemed that the people throughout the district did not realize the importance of the work to be done, for precincts entitled to six or) seven delegates were represented by only one or two, and the vacancies had to be filled by alternates from other precincts who happened to attend from mere curiésity. One thing noticeable about the gathering was the presence of the ‘fossil’’? element of the party, many of whom had. been turned down as delegates to the State Convention and were sent to this gathering for consolation. This is one of the reasons to which Mr. Hatch can attribute his nomination, as nearly all these old warhorses stood firm for him. .
