Show WASATCH COUNTY COURIER FEBRUARY 7, 2001 o ee eflecting On the Winning Fine Artists— Local winners will enter state competition PAULETTE TILLMAN Visual Arts inning entriesin the PTA Reflections fine arts contest were announced and dis- played at Rocky Mountain Middle School on Monday evening at a reception hosted by local PTA sponsors June Hicken The contest theme, “Wouldn't It Be Strange If — “ brought unique and creative works of art in the categories of Visual Arts, Photography, Music, Film-Video, Literature, Dance, and Theatre. Works were ranked in Primary, Intermediate, Middle-Junior and Senior divisions. First place entries in all categories will advance to statewide competition in February. Local. merchants awarded to donated first place — prizes winners. Program chairwoman June Hicken expressed appreciation| to Day’s Market for refreshments, and to Taco Time, Reel Theatres, Carolyn’s Frozen Yogurt and Wasatch Chiropractic for prize donations. PTA Council President Ruth Jarvis attributed the program’s success to the enthusiastic students who entered the contest, to parents who supported their the efforts of their children, and to PTA representatives who organized the program. She has worked very hard to earn credits for her high school diploma. She hopes to finish her high school eduction and enter a cosmetology training program as soonas possible.
