Ogden Valley Community Meeting Planning News: Wolf Creek & Nordic – Wednesday, September 7, 2022 Valley Proposals Generate Controversy An Ogden Valley Community Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Arbor Lodge. The Arbor Lodge (formerly Pineview Lodge) is located at 3923 Wolf Creek Drive (Powder Mountain Road – SR-158) in Eden, Utah. A special thank you to the management staff at Powder Mountain for allowing us to use the Arbor Lodge for this meeting. The primary objective of this meeting is to inform valley residents on the development all around our valley that is so apparent. There will be representatives from several valley areas who have organized their local communities to meet with developers to express their concerns on development plans. These individuals will share their approach to the dialog they have had with developers, and for some communities it has been a win-win situation. There will also be an update on proposed plans for the Wolf Barn parcel in terms of the newly constructed irrigation retention pond and the possible restoration of the Wolf Barn. In addition, there should be an introductory presentation on an incorporation initiative for a large portion of Ogden Valley. Objectively, there are pros and cons to incorporation, but one of the first steps in the process is a feasibility study to determine if incorporation would be financially viable. Please carpool if possible since there is limited parking around the Arbor Lodge. And we will need some help setting up chairs for the meeting, and volunteers are welcome to help, beginning at 5:00 p.m. CFOV’s First Annual Fall Farm Festival: An Evening of Music, Food & Fun The Community Foundation of Ogden Valley’s first annual Fall Farm Festival will provide the opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors under the full harvest moon. VEHICLE cont. on page 11 By Shanna Francis Over 170 people participated in a recent planning commission meeting held Tuesday, August 23—via Zoom and in person at the Weber Center’s commission chambers in Ogden where the OV planning commission met to conduct business. On the agenda were two especially controversial proposals impacting three of Ogden Valley’s four resorts and the resorts’ neighboring communities: • Powder Mountain – Consideration and action on a request for approval of the second amendment to their current development agreement to update concept area maps and to add language allowing staff and planning commission members to approve minimal changes to area maps. Applicant is Rick Everson. • Wolf Creek – A public hearing to consider a zoning map amendment to rezone property from RE-15, RE-20, FR-3, O-1, F-5, and AV-3 to the Master Planned Development Overlay zone. Applicant is John Lewis. • Nordic Valley – A public hearing to consider an application to rezone approximately 510 acres of land to the Form-Based Village Zone. Applicant is Skyline Mountain Base, LLC. The evening with the planning commission began at 3:30 and didn’t end until about 11:00 p.m. From 3:30 to 4:30, planning commissioners were given a presentation by Bowen and Collins and Sunrise Engineering similar to that which was presented to the community on July 27, which most, if not all, members of the planning commission missed. Members of the Weber County Commission also attended the Tuesday afternoon presentation. The presentations outlined findings about water and sewer in Ogden Valley, and options to address the lack of available water in the valley and to address wastewater treatment. For a recap of the study’s findings, see the PLANNING cont. on page 12 Members of Sheriff’s Office Answer Questions from Valley Residents By Shanna Francis About twenty-five residents from Ogden Valley showed up to a meeting with members of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office to ask questions and voice concerns about a recent spate of robberies, partying and noise, illegal parking enforcement around Pineview Reservoir, road racing, and insufficient law enforcement coverage in the valley. Officers emphasized that it’s important for neighbors to keep an eye out for any unusual activity—a neighborhood watch system. Also, they encouraged everyone to put in their phone the Weber County Dispatch number—801-629-8221—so if you see any illegal activity or anything suspicious you can contact the Sheriff’s non-emergency number to report it. In addition, the county has implemented a CodeRED Program—a high-speed mass notification system to keep residents safe in the event of an emergency. To register to be alerted in a countywide emergency situation or to receive other critical community alerts—such as evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, weather danger, missing child reports, etc.—go to Weber County’s CodeRED site and fill out the form. You can find it at public. coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/11B885E194B7. Also, you can check local crime records in your area by visiting the LexisNexis Community Crime Map at communitycrimemap.com. For instance, on August 25, 2022 I checked the map and saw that there was a vehicle stolen on August 10 at 9:43 am. At 37XX N. Wolf Creek Dr. in Eden, Weber County Sheriff report #22WC28922. In addition, a theft was reported August 21, 2022 at 35XX N. Elkview Dr. in Eden, report #22WC30515. And finally, there was a forced-entry burglary reported August 12 in Liberty at 33XX E. 41XX N., report #22WC29210. Stay alert, stay informed. More Recreation Opportunities Ahead for Ogden Valley Ogden Valley Parks Service Area (OVPSA) is excited to announce its next step in planning for new and improved recreational opportunities for Ogden Valley. We are currently working on a recreation master plan for our parks and need your input to help us determine what type of facilities and amenities are most appropriate for you. OVPSA is inviting all park service area residents and property owners to participate in an area-wide questionnaire designed to gather your thoughts and feelings on the recreational needs and concerns you have for the facilities, amenities, programs, and services in Ogden Valley. The information collected will be used to plan for improvements in our parks that meet the specific needs and desires of those who live and recreate here. The questionnaire will be available online beginning Saturday, August 13, 2022 and run through Saturday, September 17, 2022. OVPSA was formed in January 2019 when the communities of Huntsville, Eden, and Liberty joined together to share a single park board of directors and coordinate events, services, and revenues to benefit all of the parks in Ogden Valley. Each of the three major parks (Huntsville, Eden, and Liberty Park) have their own committees that manage day-to-day operations, but there is now a large-scale coordination RECREATION cont. on page 11 Members of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office held a townhall meeting August 5 at the Eden Park Bowery.
