He also will conduct a workshop. Fairmont Park will be the scene Aug. 12-1- 4 and for a vacation church school sponsored by the United Council of Churches from 9 a.m. to noon each day. New-Typ- The plight of the migrant worker and new ideas in housing were presented this week during the House Party Conference of American Baptist Women East. of Utah at Westminster College, 1840-13t- h Two of the speakers were Mrs. William H. Yates, CounBrigham City, founder of the Box Elder Migrant Los neighborAngeles, Barbara and Miss Dcdge, cil, hood action specialist, American Baptist Home Mission Societies. Mrs. Yates said the migrant worker faces insecurity. He has an income problem, but that is not necessarily caused by low wages. He makes good wages for a time, but then makes nothing. He is usually unemployed from November to April, depending on which crops they follow. She said Utah ranks very low in housing for migrant workers because the state has no public housing. She suggested that farmers cooperate to provide housing for migrant farm workers. Another problem facing the migrant is the travel involved following the crops. This also causes an educational problem for the children. Many speak Spanish, but they cant read or write it. Miss Dodge said the American Baptist Home Mission Societies sponsors housing in the Watts section of Los Angeles. She said the tenants keep the buildings in good repair because they have been low-inco- given the responsibility. She said this type of housing is more expensive than public housing, or between $77 and $115 p.r month for the apartments depending on what they contain. Rents have increased in recent years because of it it inflation and although the organization Is must break even. An independent, friendly church d 1880 1. 5600 South ... Worship Service i. But a ministers wife needs special attributes, such as the patience of Job and the ability to keep a smile on your face no matter what, she warned. The wife of a minister must learn to be a good manager, she continued. A minister is the poorest paid professional man.
