Show I 1 DA E SORENSEN DIES mrs ida E sorensen wife of peter H sorensen of the second ward died early saturday morning after a brief illness of a couple of days an affliction of tile stomach was the immediate cause of death mrs sorensen was one of the best known and most highly respected women of this community she was born in copenhagen denmark 67 years ago and was raised in the city of Ros rosmilde roskilde kilde until 14 ye years ars of age when she moved to copenhagen sh shortly artl after she became acquainted with the latter day saint elders and altho but a young girl she received a testimony of tile the truth of tile the gospel as taught by the elders and was baptized she became a member of the L D S choir in copenhagen which position she held until she emigrated to utah in 1877 A year later she became the wife of peter IT II sorensen who had emigrated from denmark about the same time throughout all the hardships and trials of life she was always cheerful and full of faith she was a mother to the motherless a friend to the poor and the needy a blessing to the sick and afflicted for many years sho she has been a member 0 of the presidency of the stake scandinavian relief and of the choir a teacher in the ward relief society and a worker in the auxiliary organizations her cheerful and sunny disposition made her a welcome guest particularly among the sick and sorrowful she was a wonderfully gifted speaker especially in the danish language and in the socials of the scandinavians her accomplishments as an entertainer were wera always appreciated and made use oi 01 she leaves a husband daughter and a host of friends to mourn her loss funeral services were hold held yesterday afternoon in ill them 10 SD second cond ya yard chapel bishop T 11 II blackburn and his counselor N J valentine were in charge of the services there was a wealth of floral emblems from friends and the atten denen filled the ward house eulogistic remarks were made by a long list of speakers who also bore testimony to the saving principles of the gospel the speakers were bishop blackburn N C simonsen Sl scolly valentine fister N J valentine oluff petersen julius bruun H C Christ lansen sister C A kaiser E B C F hartmann artmann II C J sorensen and NL N J valentine the scandinavian choir of which the deceased was a faithful member sang the opening and closing numbers and mr lidward edward larsen played a violin solo mrs 0 C jacobsen and miss lee sang a solo each the services were characterized by a peaceful spirit and a long cortege accompanied the remains to the cemetery |
