If you as citizens will not help, then you will be the ones to pay, as there will be no choice but to raise the landfill fee so that a person can be hired full time to sit at the landfill and watch to see that garbage is handled properly. If someone has to be hired, then we will have to close the landfill from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends. The North Sevier High School Baseball team, along with City crews, are in the process of cleaning up the area. Then, let us all pull together as citizens, and help keep it that way. Art Show now in Games are successful Trials for Utah Sum mer We believe that all of us as citizens would agree that the Salina Landfill and surrounding area look awful. We also believe that you would agree with us that the citizens themselves could help correct this problem if we would only take a little care with our garbage and dump it in the designated areas. These areas include: 1. Top dump for trees, limbs, grass, construction debris and concrete. 2. Lower dump for household garbage in tied bags that can be covered. 3. Area Southwest of the lower dump is for old appliances and household furniture. 4. There is also a dead animal pit. The landfill will be patrolled The Salina City Council met April 4, in their offices at the City Building. There were several problems with water leaking from individual lines, and all were handled on an individual basis. Ray Blackham asked the Council to annex 3.5 square miles south and west of S alina City into the city limits. After discussion, the motion was tabled so that more study can be done before the final decision is made. Mayor Grant S tubbs noted that the dues for the Utah League of in the Cities and Towns for 1988-8amount of $706.82 was due. The council voted to pay it. A letter to proposed road changes from state roads to county roads was read by Mr. Stubbs. After discussion, it was moved that Attorney Mike Jorgensen write a letter of protest and send it to both the county and state officials. Roads being considered for change are making Highway 89 into a county road. John Learning was appointed Mayor Pro Tempro for the April 18 meeting if Mayor Stubbs has not 9, returned home in time. Ruby Gates was hired as a crossing guard for the next two months. Gale Lair was hired for a couple of weeks to grade the roads and help get caught up. Seven business licenses were approved. Kim Robinson asked to purchase a dog trap for $1 19. The motion was approved. Syd Griffiths had asked if he could use the Salina sewer lagoons to dump the material from his septic cleaning service. The motion was approved to charge $7.50 per load, and that the dumping must be supervised by Scott Holt One building permit was approved.
